Hiring Range: $16.00-$20.75/hr. DOE

Primary Function of Position

As the Maintenance Lead, you will oversee the essential maintenance and operations of the St. Vincent de Paul Dining Hall and the Weigand Resource Center. Your leadership will be crucial in ensuring these vital facilities, which serve individuals experiencing homelessness, are well-maintained and operate smoothly. Your responsibilities will include supervising maintenance projects, coordinating cleaning efforts, and ensuring a warm and secure environment for our valued guests.

Major Position Responsibilities

  1. Project Management: Plan, oversee, and complete maintenance projects from inception to completion.
  2. Property Maintenance: Ensure the efficient operation and upkeep of buildings and grounds.
  3. Maintenance Tracking: Instill a system that tracks regular maintenance needs (e.g., drains), keep a log of maintenance repairs, and work with the Operations Manager in logging property walk-through inspections.
  4. Preventive Maintenance: Develop and implement a preventive maintenance program to reduce downtime and extend the life of equipment.
  5. Dining Room Setup and Cleanup: Supervise the set up and cleanup of the dining room, ensuring tables are arranged properly and floors are swept and mopped after meal service.
  6. Security Coordination: Communicate security needs to the security team to ensure safety within the campus.
  7. Bathroom Maintenance: Ensure the hygiene of the bathrooms after meal service, creating a clean and comfortable space for our guests.
  8. Clothing Room Assistance: Assist with stocking and distribution of clothing in the clothing room.
  9. Volunteer Supervision: Train and manage volunteers for various maintenance tasks, fostering a sense of community and shared purpose.
  10. Groundskeeping: Oversee grounds maintenance, including garbage removal, lawn care, and snow management.
  11. Inventory Management: Manage our inventory of supplies and equipment, ensuring everything is readily available when needed.
  12. Tool Management: Keep essential tools well-organized and accessible.
  13. Incident Reporting: Promptly reporting unusual or extraordinary circumstances, helping us maintain a safe and secure environment.
  14. Task Delegation: Delegate tasks to team members or volunteers when not on campus.
  15. Other assigned duties as needed.

Work Environment

  1. Work in various conditions, including indoor and outdoor settings, and exercise caution when faced with icy and slippery conditions.
  2. Use of necessary personal protective equipment, such as ear protection, to ensure a safe working environment when operating equipment.

Physical Demands

  1. Prolonged Standing: This position entails working for extended periods while standing on your feet.
  2. Physical Flexibility: This position entails working for extended periods while standing on your feet.
  3. Lifting Capability: The ability to lift up to 50 pounds is essential.
  4. Winter Tasks: In the winter, be ready for snow shoveling duties.
  5. Driving: Occasional driving may be required.

  7. Plumbing Knowledge: Knowledge of plumbing to address issues like leaks, clogs, or other drainage problems.
  8. Carpentry Skills: Be capable of handling basic repairs around the buildings and general yard maintenance, utilizing carpentry skills as needed.

Education, Training, and Experience

  1. Education Requirement: A High School diploma or GED is required for this position.
  2. Maintenance and Janitorial Skills: Basic maintenance and janitorial skills are desirable qualifications for this role

Background Screening Requirement

  1. Must be able to pass a national BCI/FBI background check.

Licenses, certifications, and credentials

  1. Medical Certification: You must possess a Utah DOT medical card or be able to get one during your introductory period.
  2. Forklift Certification: While not mandatory, forklift certification is preferred for this position.

Position status and expected schedule

  1. This is a full-time position that works Monday through Friday, 10 AM to 6 PM.
