SALT LAKE COMMUNITY COLLEGE Specialist I, Peer Mentor (Honors Program) (PT) in SALT LAKE CITY, Utah

SLCC Honors Program is seeking a peer mentor to assist in honors courses, particularly in HON 2211 -- Honors Intermediate Writing (Fall 2024 with possible extension to Spring 2025). The peer mentor for the honors course will assist students in understanding course materials and assignments, guide students on research and writing techniques, foster a supportive learning environment where students feel comfortable sharing their writing and receiving feedback, and assist in revising and editing student work. Honors Peer Mentors provide essential support in referring students to campus support services (Student Writing and Reading Center, ePortfolio Lab, and more), as well as encourage students to publish or present their work in conferences or journals. This role has work hours up to 5 hours per week which includes course time, meeting with the instructor, and office hours.

If interested in more than 5 hours per week, the Honors Peer Mentor can assist in outreach efforts to prospective Honors Program students, assist in planning and promoting Honors Program activities and events, provide general communication support through the Honors Program Newsletter and social media, provide general office support for the honors lounge, and support honors program students in understanding honors program requirements and check in with students on their progress.
