ARUP Laboratories in Salt Lake City, Utah is hiring for full-time Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) Lead NYQ - 1 opening. Duties: In the Genomic Microarray laboratory, the MLS Lead NYQ will perform testing methods for human genetic testing via genome-wide microarrays to assess for submicroscopic deletions and duplications or regions of homozygosity within the genome. Will operate and maintain instrument platforms such as the Promega Maxwell RSC, thermal cyclers, nanospectrophotometers, Qubit fluorimeter, and ThemoFisher GeneChip instruments including Scanner 3000 7G, Fluidics Station 450, and Hybridization Oven 645. Will participate in preparing specimens for processing; establish, perform, and document quality assurance, quality control, confirm and verify results through in-depth knowledge of techniques, principles, and instruments, including for both internal and external proficiency testing (PT). Will correlate, interpret, and enter data based on knowledge of factors affecting test results. Will write, edit, and validate SOPs for clear documentation of lab practices. Will assist in training new and current employees in procedures and policies, and respond to technical questions consistent with level of training and experience. Will perform other duties and projects as assigned. Assists supervisor with training, competency assessments, leads staff meetings, assists with interviews, directs daily workflow and lab operations, updates test cost sheets, assists with QC activities in the laboratory, assists with validation of testing and instrumentation and troubleshooting as needed. Requires Bachelor's degree in Clinical or Medical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology or in the chemical or biological sciences; and ASCP or AAB certification as MLS or MT.
