Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) Specialist – Chemical Safety Focus

Ultradent , a global name in oral healthcare, is looking for a bright, humble , and motivated  Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) Specialist  to support our chemical safety initiatives in both a corporate and manufacturing environment.  As our EHS Specialist you will help re-enforce a culture that builds employee safety and strengthens the working climate by supporting and participating in all safety improvement activities for the company.  In all activities, you will look to Standardize, Assess, Facilitate , and Escalate EHS activities, programs, and practices while educating and providing excellent customer service .

The following are some important job duties the EHS Specialist would be responsible for :

  • Reports to the Chemical Safety & Security (CSS) Supervisor and supports the CSS Team in the development and maintenance of programs, training, tools, and documents.

  • Provides a cultural fit including care, humility, integrity, innovation, and patience.

  • Recognizes process improvement opportunities, communicates issues to the EHS Supervisor , and actively assists in resolution of issues.

  • Champions employee involvement to identify and address chemical safety concerns.

  • Gains an in depth understanding and remains current on chemical safety regulations and concepts.

  • Participate s in EHS audits, risk assessments, incident investigations, root cause analysis, inspections and ensure closure of corrective actions , as appropriate .

  • Manages SDS program including SDS repository software , and SDS drafting and publication.

  • Effectively interact s with internal customers and external agencies and resources.

    What we’re looking for in you:

  • The skills and capacity to do the duties listed above, regardless of your prior experience or education.

  • Ideally , 6 months to 2 years of experience in the EHS or ad jacent field OR bachelor’s degree in occupational safety, industrial hygiene, environmental protection, chemistry, or related field .

  • Appreciation and support of diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) philosophies as well as psychological safety for all.

  • Basic understanding of how federal, state, and local laws, standards and regulations operate .

  • Computing skills, including but not limited to proficiency in Microsoft Office, Smartsheet , mobile apps, etc.

  • Possess and exemplify the values upon which Ultradent is built.

  • Must look stylish and confidently wear a hi-vis vest and other appropriate PPE .

    In addition to the attributes above and what we are looking for in you, these other skills would make you successful in this role:

  • Excellent communication (verbal and written) and strong customer service skills.

  • Ability to deal with emergency situations, including employee injuries and chemical releases , with a level head.

  • Prior laboratory and/or chemical safety experience – Preferred

  • Ability to write and speak in Spanish – Preferre

  • safety glasses.
