Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Associate Director of Learning Systems to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the administration, support, and continuous improvement of our learning systems and related technologies. This role requires a strong technical background, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to inspire and lead a team of professionals to greater heights.
Responsibilities
Learning System Administration: Oversee the configuration, maintenance, support, and optimization of the University’s learning systems, including user management, integration of add-on tools, and system customizations. Ensure regular system audits, software upgrades, and maintenance to make sure the learning systems are up-to-date and secure.
Staying Current with Trends: Keep abreast of emerging trends and best practices in educational technology to recommend and implement improvements.
Strategic Alignment: Guide the overall operation of the universities learning systems, ensuring alignment with strategic institutional goals.
Software Development: Monitor the team software development efforts to design, implement, and continuously improve custom software solutions that relate to student success.
Managing Enterprise Software Rollouts: Facilitate the deployment of enterprise software solutions, ensuring smooth transitions and minimal disruption to users.
Solution Discovery and Reporting: Coordinate the production and analysis of reports on LMS usage as well as other systems used in teaching learning; mentor staff in using simple scripts for solution discovery and adhoc reporting.
Overseeing Security of the Systems: Ensure the security and integrity of the learning systems, implementing best practices and facilitating rapid response to security incidents.
Team Leadership: Lead a team of 5-10 technical staff to provide the University with stable and reliable technical platforms and services. Directly manage activities of managers and supervisors overseeing their performance appraisals and pay reviews.

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in related computer science area, or equivalency (one year of education can be substituted for two years of related work experience) required; plus six years of progressively more responsible management experience; and demonstrated leadership, human relations and effective communication skills also required.
Department Specific Requirements:
Demonstrated project management in software development, and/or rolling out enterprise systems and related services.
Proven experience in LMS administration, and/or technical support of learning systems.
Applicants must demonstrate the potential ability to perform the essential functions of the job as outlined in the position description.
Preferences
Eight years of work-related experience, demonstrating increasing levels of responsibility and leadership.
Experience with using API and/or LTI technologies for integrating disparate systems.
Familiarity with Java, Python, Javascript, and Typescript programming languages as well as REACT , and/or NodeJS frameworks.
CAPM , PMP or other project management certification.
Masters degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Educational Technology, or a related field.
Familiarity with security best practices in educational technology.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
