What you will do

As a Project Manager in the Mack Medium Duty (MMD) Engineering & Range Department, you will support ongoing Projects related to the MMD product. These projects will range from major product updates to maintenance related initiatives, such as field quality, production supported changes and supplier requested changes. Your overall focus will be in the areas of Quality, Compliance, Safety and vehicle architecture of the Mack Medium Duty products. You will also ensure that MMD project initiative requirements are established and integral to planning during the early phases. Also guaranteeing that initiatives adhere to agreed requirements gained through interfacing with cross-functional colleagues. You will learn the inner workings of how small and major projects are managed within MMD and in the broader cross-functional Group Trucks organization (i.e. Operations, Technology and Purchasing).

You will be responsible for:

  • Assisting in developing project timelines and quality plans relative to areas of responsibility.

  • Coordinating within areas of Vehicle, Powertrain and Electromobility Engineering to establish requirements and ensure Compliant, Safe, Quality products in accordance with standards and regulations.

  • Aligning with SME Architects to ensure a mechanical and electrical architecture that meets Mack’s customer and market needs.

  • Collaborating with various part of the organization to develop solutions and planning.

  • Following through on commitments with a clear sense of ownership.

  • Utilizing project methodology such as scope, scheduling, cost, quality, and risk.

  • Collaborating with design engineers in the early stages of product development to ensure compliance ready designs.

  • Identify, aggregate and manage key initiative’s risk.

  • Managing assigned elements of Projects under the guidance of senior management.

Our team, Mack Medium Duty (MMD) engineering, is an important part of the Group Trucks Technology function. In 2020, Mack Trucks established its Roanoke Valley Operations (RVO) manufacturing facility to produce the Mack Medium Duty (MD) Series. This growing facility is dedicated to the assembly of Mack medium-duty vehicles, adding to an already robust Mack Trucks product lineup to reach new customers and applications.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or a related field.

  • 7+ years of related technical work including exposure to relevant industry and business areas.

  • Vehicle product know-how and experience, including knowledge of the complete vehicle assembly process.

  • Working knowledge of FMVSS requirements.

  • Quality tool skills (Risk analysis, FMEA, Project Assurance quality).

  • Proven success leading small to medium product change initiatives.

  • Ability and willingness to travel up to 25%.
