Who will you be working with?

You will interact with team members at all levels of the organization. You’ll work most closely with the Design Engineering team toward the goal of delivering innovative solutions for the transportation industry.

How will you make a difference?

As a member of the Mechanical Engineering team, you will be part of the team responsible for the creation of conceptual and detailed designs for parts, assemblies, and products assuring that designs meet specification, safety, and regulatory requirements.

What do we want to know about you?

  • How many years of engineering experience do you have?

  • Do you have a Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related field?

  • How many years of experience do you have in new product design?

  • How many years of experience do you have in manufacturing operations, such as foundry, machining, welding, assembly, test & inspection, or marking & packaging processes?

  • Are you a problem solver? Do you have strong analytical skills with the ability to communicate complex analyses and concepts to all levels of the organization?

  • Do you have the organizational skills and flexibility necessary to deal with multiple project priorities and evolving deadlines?

  • Do you have the desire to be “hands on” in the design, build, and troubleshooting of new and existing products?

  • Do you have experience with formal continuous improvement tools such as 5S and other Lean Manufacturing concepts, PPAP, creation of Mfg. Control Plans, Value Stream Mapping and Cell layout techniques?

What will your typical day look like?

  • Confirm product performance by designing, performing, and documenting engineering tests.

  • Specify components and assemblies using 2D drafting, 3D modeling software and text descriptions, as well as creating detailed and precise schematics.

  • Maintain and improve existing process and equipment designs. Review and judge non-conformances. Evaluate and implement suggestions and requirements from suppliers, customers, and manufacturing.

  • Manage process equipment and component design projects within budget and schedule requirements.

  • Research and select suppliers. Maintain supplier relationships.

  • Prepare feasibility studies and thorough cost justification for projects.

  • Plan and implement capital projects.

  • Work with subject-matter experts and operations leaders to document business processes and develop supporting instructional materials. Collaborate with all relevant stakeholders to design an effective plan to communicate and implement the new processes.

You may also be asked to perform other duties outside of your function or trade, for which adequate training will be provided if necessary.
