Description

The Senior Financial Analyst supports financial operations processes, including forecasting, planning, and financial/business performance. The position develops the annual and quarterly plan, integrating financial data from various systems, and provides strategic insights through analysis and reporting. The Senior Financial Analyst provides analytical support through monthly reporting, complex financial modeling, and development of ad hoc Operational and Financial reporting ensuring data integrity of data. This position assists in identifying and evaluating opportunities to improve department performance, and general support of other internal and external users of financial information. The Senior Financial Analyst fosters collaboration across functions to improve financial processes and align financial strategies with departmental and organizational goals.

This is a remote opportunity; however, the selected candidate must reside in Minnesota or Wisconsin and have the ability to work onsite in St. Paul, MN as needed.

Compensation & Benefits

The annual salary range for this opportunity is $86,257/annually to $129,396/annually, with a median salary of $107,827/annually. Pay is dependent on several factors including relevant work experience and internal equity. Salary is just one component of the compensation package for employees. Primary Job Responsibilities

Planning

  • Collaborates with the Finance leadership to lead and manage dynamic and annual budgeting processes, ensuring accuracy, alignment with organizational goals, and timely completion.

  • Facilitates cross-departmental engagement, ensure alignment with strategic priorities, integrates input from key stakeholders, and delivers a comprehensive plan to guide organizational financial decision-making.

  • Plays a key role in the optimization of the dynamic planning tool, ensuring it meets organizational needs and enhances efficiency in quarterly, annual & long-range planning, and financial analysis processes.

  • Establishes workflows and processes to maintain data consistency, accuracy, and compatibility across systems, enabling robust financial planning and reporting.

    Reporting and Analysis

  • Prepares for and facilitates Monthly Operating Performance Reviews, providing documentation of commentary and actionable insights to reach financial plan.

  • Track and analyze key metric trends, develop and maintain strategic scorecards to provide leadership with actionable insights into organizational performance and progress toward goals.

  • Assists in the development of business cases by delivering financial modeling, in-depth analysis, and strategic insights to guide decision-making and evaluate potential opportunities. Perform complex financial, statistical, productivity, cost analytics, and various financial scenarios to evaluate and maximize ROI. Collaborates with business partners throughout the process to ensure accurate conclusions are drawn from the information.

  • Provides expertise for ad-hoc analysis, delivering timely and accurate financial insights to support organization and department initiatives.

    Business Partnership

  • Builds strong partnerships across assigned functions and departments, fostering collaboration to align financial strategies with organizational objectives.

  • Collaborates cross-functionally to identify opportunities for improvement, streamline business and financial processes, and implement solutions that support the organization's strategic goals and operational efficiency.

  • Actively plan and manage project progress and communicate status and observed bottlenecks. Monitor operation outcomes relative to expectations and communicate opportunities to enhance outcomes.

  • Provide education & training to business partners on the effective use of financial systems and tools, as well as how to read and interpret financial information and reports.

    Other Duties

  • Ensuring accurate information to support Medicare cost reports, cost accounting, monthly KPIs and year-end audits.

  • Perform other responsibilities as assigned, such as: system testing and support related to implementation, conversion, or development of new tools/systems.

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field OR equivalent experience

  • 4 years experience financials or business operations; 2 years specific to healthcare

  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel.

    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Human relations skills, and the ability to work with all levels of management, including explaining and obtaining cooperation for implementation of necessary internal controls.

  • Knowledge of generally accepted accounting, management, and business principles and practices.

  • Demonstrated and proven proficiency in databases and financial software applications.

  • Advanced proficiency in Excel (e.g. Power Query, macros, basic programming, pivot tables, conditional formatting, data tables, formulas, etc.)

    Preferred

  • Masters’ degree or equivalent experience

  • CPA/CMA/MBA

  • Proficient understanding of healthcare financial analysis

  • Experience and knowledge of Infor Financial & Supply Management, Cerner, or other financial software

  • Advanced proficiency with Power BI.
