Job Description

We are looking for experienced DevOps professionals to help operate, grow, and evolve Oracle Visual Builder Studio. Oracle Visual Builder Studio is a robust application development platform that helps customer development teams effectively plan and manage their work throughout all stages of the app dev lifecycle: design, build, test, and deploy. In this position, you will be working with Oracle Visual Builder Studio's Development and Operations team to design, write, deploy, and operate software to improve the availability, security, scalability, and efficiency of our cloud service used by thousands of enterprise customers in every Oracle Cloud Infrastructure region around the world.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities include:

  • A fluid combination of software development, process automation, deployment, patching, monitoring, incident management and troubleshooting

  • Proactive management of our security posture, working with application security tools and analyzing and remediating potential vulnerabilities

  • Understanding the end-to-end configuration, technology stack, and overall behavioral characteristics of a set of complex micro services and infrastructure. Utilizing this understanding to diagnose and resolve production issues in real time

  • Executing, maintaining, and developing detailed change processes and runbooks for production changes

  • Exemplifying the “DevOps mindset” and helping reinforce this culture in our larger organization and drive increased maturity in our toolset and processes

  • Participating in scheduled shifts in our on-call rotation and reliably and promptly responding to production alarms

  • Closely partnering with the service development team to improve the service availability and operability

Basic Qualifications

  • Master or Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or in “STEM” Majors (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math)

  • A minimum of 10 years of professional experience in DevOps/SRE

Technical Expertise: Essential

  • Extensive experience developing or operating:

  • Cloud native applications deployed to OCI, AWS, Azure or similar

  • Java based client-server applications

  • Hands-on experience working with standard DevOps tools and infrastructure:

  • Build automation tools (Jenkins)

  • Dependency management tools (Maven)

  • Issue tracking tools like JIRA

  • Familiarity with Git

  • Artifact storage tools like Artifactory, Nexus or equivalent

  • Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform)

  • Network configuration and management

  • Knowledge of application servers such as Tomcat or Weblogic

  • Strong experience developing automation:

  • Shell, Perl, Python (any one)

  • Chef, Puppet, Ansible on Linux

  • Knowledge about Linux system and services

  • Monitoring and distributed logging technologies

Technical Expertise: Strongly Desired

  • Experience with containerized development and deployment (Docker, Podman, Kubernetes)

  • Experience with SQL and relational databases like Oracle, MySQL or equivalent

  • Experience with application security tools and scanners (Qualys, Sonatype, WebInspect, etc)

  • Proven success working with and optimizing applications for large scale enterprise reliability and performance.

  • Experience working with globally distributed teams to ensure systems are effectively integrated, configured, managed, and supported in production

US: Hiring Range in USD from: $104,200 to $251,600 per annum. May be eligible for bonus, equity, and compensation deferral.

Oracle maintains broad salary ranges for its roles in order to account for variations in knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions and locations, as well as reflect Oracle’s differing products, industries and lines of business.

Candidates are typically placed into the range based on the preceding factors as well as internal peer equity.
