About the Opportunity As a Director, Math Assessment, you will apply your enthusiasm for and experience in Math education to collaboratively develop high-quality assessment content for the SAT Math Test and related assessments. You'll use your expertise to lead assessment-related projects within the larger Assessment Design and Development department. You'll serve as a point-of-contact for the Math team on internal and external communications and present to other subject-matter experts at committee meetings. Your love of math problems, comfort with technology, and excitement about trying new approaches will enable you to contribute significantly to creating content for the digital SAT Suite and other assessments as needed. Your leadership abilities are strong, and managing large deliverables enables you to lead a team of item development specialists to project completion. You are self-motivated and deadline-focused, with a curious and inquisitive nature. As such, you will work hard to ensure the content you craft and review meets our rigorous standards and supports our mission to help all students own their future. In this role, you will: Provide Senior-Level Expertise (50%) * Provide expertise in math curriculum to internal and external clients, including conducting alignments between College Board tests and national and state standards. * Write and refine an assigned number of multiple-choice and constructed-response math questions and answer rationales in accordance with established quality and process standards and within established timelines. * Provide senior-level reviews of questions and rationales written by other team members. * Review assessment content with an aim of helping monitor and improve content quality. * Collaborate with colleagues within and outside of the Math team to develop new assessments and supporting products, including item alignment to test specifications, item development, and the analysis of statistical results. Manage Workstreams (40%) * Collaborate with math team leadership in planning, documenting, scheduling, and guiding the work of the math team. * Lead math team members in day-to-day work related to item, test, or rationale development to meet the digital SAT Suite development goals ensuring processes are followed and deadlines are met. * Lead operational test form reviews, including reconciling feedback, analyzing pretest data, and shepherding forms from assembly to completion and ensuring the highest standards of quality are maintained. Mentor Staff (10%) * Mentor and train new hires and junior staff to ensure they are developing content that adheres to precise test specifications and are following established test development processes. * Promote a collaborative, constructive, mission-focused work environment by recognizing team opportunities and challenges, presenting project-specific lessons learned, and suggesting process/procedure improvements. About you, you have: * Master's degree or the equivalent education and experience in Math, Math education, Statistics, or closely related field, including the sciences, required * 6-10 Years of experience in K-12 or K-16 including development of multiple-choice and co structed response math items, with a nationally recognized testing organization, test publisher, or state testing program, required * Experience teaching math at the middle, secondary, or post-secondary levels to a diverse population of students highly preferred. Candidates with a background in science or teaching science, paired with strong math background, will be considered * Solid organizational, time, and task management skills * Exceptional verbal and written communication skills * Proven ability to effectively handle multiple priorities simultaneously * Strong attention to detail * In-depth familiarity with state and national curriculum standards * Excellent proficiency in Microsoft Word Office tools, Computer literacy, and a comfort with learning new technologies * Ability to work independently and as part of a team * Availability for national travel approximately 2-3 times a year About Our Process * Application review will begin immediately and will continue until the position is filled. The hiring range for a new employee in this position is $76,000 to $125,000 College Board differentiates salaries by location so where you live will narrow the portion of this range in which you can expect a salary. Your salary will be carefully determined based on your location, relevant experience, the external labor market, and the pay of College Board employees in similar roles.
