Saguache County Government Road & Bridge Head Supervisor in Saguache, Colorado
JOB TITLE: Road & Bridge Head Supervisor
MUSTS: Must have a High School Diploma or GED (General Education Degree) and extensive knowledge of engineering processes and procedures; engineering principles and methods; civil engineering standards; and current construction methods, practices, materials, tools, and equipment for road construction and maintenance operations. Applicants are preferred to posses or may be required to obtain a current Colorado Class A Commercial Drivers License (CDL) with a heavy semi-truck endorsement and current medical certificate. Must also be able to work during road emergencies, which may include working nights, weekends, and holidays as needed. Must also be Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA) trained and flagger certified (or be able to attain certification, when required). Must also pass a pre-employment drug screening, before being hired.
SKILLS: Thorough knowledge of principles of maintenance and construction of roads and drainage infrastructure; principles of management and budgeting; blueprints, grades, machinery, materials, and methods on constructing roads, bridges, drainage systems, culverts, etc.; principles of supervision and work motivation; general accounting principles and practices; budget development and control programs; Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) regulations and safety standards related to road and bridge construction; MSHA regulations and safety standards when working in the gravel pits; hazards common to heavy equipment operation; traffic control and diversion; equipment maintenance and repair standards; design development procedures, cost analysis and scheduling practices. Experienced in the art of diplomacy and conflict resolution as well as the ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
DUTIES: Performs a variety of managerial, administrative, and supervisory tasks related to planning, organizing, and coordinating the construction and maintenance of county roads, bridges, signs, culverts, and proper drainage of county roads. Monitors road conditions, assigns personnel, equipment, and materials, and sets priorities for repairs within the County. Responsible for the Landfill Department, reporting to the State of Colorado Department of Health and Board of County Commissioners. Assures compliance with the Colorado Department of Health regulations. Works with engineering firm building new cells. Supervises Landfill employees as well as providing general supervision to Assistant Road Supervisors, Office Manager and Assistant, Shop Foreman, Road Forman, Mechanics, Equipment Operators, Laborers and delegates responsibility to subordinate supervisors and lead workers when necessary.
WAGES: $71,000 annually, depending on education, certification(s) and experience. Salary to be discussed further with the Employer. Paid Bi-weekly.

DURATION: This is a permanent full time 40 hours per week position.
SHIFT: Work hours will be Monday - Friday from 7:00AM to 4:30PM. Unless needed for road emergencies, which may include working nights, weekends, and holidays.
JOB SITE: Saguache County Road & Bridge Shop/Saguache, Colorado, and other locations throughout Saguache County
