JOB SUMMARY

The Clinical Psychologist provides professional psychological assessment, diagnosis, psychotherapeutic intervention treatment, and administers specialized and standardized testing to patients. Provides individual, group, and family therapy, referral, and follow-up to acute, chronic, or moderately disturbed mentally ill clients and/or patients. Consults with outside facilities and/or agencies. Advises and participates in development, implementation, and evaluation of policies and procedures including the areas of risk management, quality improvements, and treatment modalities.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES

  1. Observes patients in various situations; selects, administers, and interprets intelligence, personality, or other psychological tests to diagnose disorders and formulate plans of treatment. Provides consultation to other mental health team professionals regarding test results.
  2. Treats psychological disorders to improve adjustments utilizing various psychological techniques; selects appropriate treatment approach and plans frequency, intensity, and duration of individual, group, and family therapies.
  3. Provides crisis intervention in situations requiring immediate psychological treatment. Actively participates as a member of the multi-disciplinary Behavioral Health Team.
  4. Builds strong working relationships to improve communication and flow of information among all care teams at GLBHC. Promotes integration of care and champions workflows to improve access to care.
  5. Provides psychological consultations to other mental health professionals within GLBHC clinics and works closely with community-based agencies regarding clients and/or patient care.
  6. Participates in educational programs, department meetings, clinician meetings, and workshops to enhance professional development and maintain currency of methodology and techniques.
  7. Documents therapy in accordance with policies and procedures in the EHR; implements and adheres to policies which ensure patient confidentiality.
  8.  Advises and participates in development, implementation, and evaluation of policies and procedures including the areas of risk management, quality improvements, and treatment modalities.
  9. Maintains current knowledge of all applicable guidelines/mandates as set forth by the State of Michigan and other accrediting or regulatory entities, Assists in the development of program workflows necessary for compliance.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS

  1. Education/Experience: Doctorate degree in Psychology; at least 1 year of experience preferred directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
  2. Licensure:  Certification/Licensure State of Michigan as a Licensed Psychologist
  3. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

Knowledge of and ability to apply relevant current special education methodologies and techniques.

Knowledge of accreditation and certification requirements and standards.

Knowledge of crisis intervention techniques.

Ability to observe, assess, and record symptoms, reactions, and progress.

Ability to effectively communicate medical information, test results, diagnoses and/or proposed treatment in a manner easily understood by the cl
