Position Overview:

The Registered Nurse in the Mental Health setting manages the patient/family experience through utilization of critical thinking, teamwork, effective communication, and nursing judgment/knowledge/skills.

Job Description :

EDUCATION

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing

  • Bachelor's: BS preferred

CERTIFICATION & LICENSURE

  • RN-Registered Nurse of California

  • BLS-Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider

  • CNPSY-Certified Mental Health and Psych RN

EXPERIENCE

  • 6 mos-2 years acute mental health psychiatric RN experience preferred

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE

  • Must have demonstrated knowledge of basic nursing skills and effective English written and communication skills.

  • Independently practices and prioritize multiple demands in a ever-changing environment.

  • Knowledge of legal responsibility regarding use of restraint and seclusion

  • Use of interventions with acute suicidal patients

  • Use of interventions with delusional patient

  • Use of interventions with hallucinating patient

  • Use of interventions with self-abusive & CPS/APS Reporting if necessary

  • Suicidal precautions / Knowledge of patients that are high risk

  • Voluntary and involuntary commitment

  • Use of milieu to enhance patient care

  • Isolation procedures and precautions

  • Knowledge of and use of SBAR

  • Knowledge of legal documents pertaining to minors/JV220/Legal Guardian

  • Knowledge of psychotropic and stimulant medications in the adolescent and adult population

  • EMTALA process

  • Perform COVID and other testing as ordered and trained

  • Understanding LPS Conservatorship

  • Extensive knowledge of HIPAA

  • Ability to perform face to face assessments on different type of presentations

Pay Range is $63.01 to $83.83 / hour

The salary range for this role may vary above or below the posted range as determined by location. This range has not been adjusted for any specific geographic differential applicable by area where the position may be filled. Compensation takes into account several factors including but not limited to a candidate’s experience, education, skills, licensure and certifications, department equity, training and organizational needs. Base pay is just one piece of the total rewards program offered by Sutter Health. Eligible roles also qualify for a comprehensive benefits package.
