ICF is seeking a Director of Clean Transportation and Energy , responsible for planning and completing major project tasks related to transportation decarbonization, electrification, and alternative fuel deployment. The incumbent will be tasked with managing a skilled team in executing clean transportation projects for various public and commercial clients.

The successful candidate for this position should possess the necessary leadership skills to enhance staff performance through effective mentoring and strategic management. The role also involves working as part of a team that develops, implements, and evaluates clean transportation technologies, strategies, and programs.

Tasks may include analyzing strategies to reduce emissions from a variety of transportation sources, assessing the costs and benefits of advanced vehicle technologies and alternative transportation fuels, developing policy and program recommendations to support the accelerated deployment of electric vehicles, researching industry trends, writing reports, and making presentations. Existing knowledge of and experience working with clean transportation programs across public and private sector is essential.

The successful candidate will also have experience in one or more of the following areas:

  • Technology feasibility assessment

  • Vehicle fleet electrification studies

  • Electric vehicle charging siting analysis.

  • Greenhouse gas emission reduction strategy development and analysis

  • Fuel supply and demand analysis.

  • Low carbon fuel

The position is located on the West Coast of the United States, preferably in one of ICF’s California offices.

Key Responsibilities

  • Managing a Team of junior- and mid-level staff to execute clean transportation projects.

  • Interacting with clients

  • Assist with business development including capture and writing proposals.

  • Leading transportation decarbonization planning studies for government and utility clients.

  • Develop and analyze forecasts of electric vehicle sales and market penetration.

  • Analyze locations for electric vehicle charging infrastructure.

  • Staying current and connected with the electric vehicle market, including trends, policies, key players, and more.

  • Leading the development and deployment of communications, outreach, and training resources, including case studies, webinars, in-person events, presentations, and other opportunities.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in transportation, environmental studies, energy, public policy, or a similar field and 12+ years’ of demonstrated professional work experience in clean transportation, including electrification. “OR” Master’s degree in transportation, environmental studies, energy, public policy, or a similar field, 10+ years’ work experience in clean transportation, including electrification.

  • Foundational knowledge in transportation decarbonization, including vehicle technologies and charging infrastructure.

  • Familiarity with other low carbon transportation fuels.

Preferred Skills/Experience

  • Advanced experience with transportation decarbonization studies.

  • Professional work experience with government and/or commercial business development.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to prioritize and multi-task, and work under strict deadlines.

  • Flexibility and sound business ethics.

Pay Range - There are multiple factors that are considered in determining final pay for a position, including, but not limited to, relevant work experience, skills, certifications and competencies that align to the specified role, geographic location, education and certifications as well as contract provisions regarding labor categories that are specific to the position. The pay range for this position is:

$112,513.00 - $191,273.00
