Position Summary Information

 

Summary

Reports to the Principal Investigator. Major focus will be on electron microscopic analysis of cholinergic circuits in the rodent auditory brainstem. Responsibilities include designing, conducting and analyzing scientific experiments in the field of auditory neuroscience; presenting research results in oral and written formats; developing and maintaining knowledge of the current scientific literature. Operates highly independently. May supervise graduate student and staff project employees.

Pay Grade: 8

Starting Salary Range: $46,300 -- $54,788, commensurate with experience

Location: Rootstown, OH

Principal Functional Responsibilities

1) Generate data, prepare publications and present research findings at national and international meetings

2) Devise protocols for research projects and have a willingness to learn new methods and approaches of problem-solving.

3) Consult with faculty on projects and provide guidance to students, instruct and train students and research staff in established techniques and procedures.

4) Perform other duties as assigned

 

Qualifications

 

Education/Degrees:

• Ph.D. (in auditory neuroscience or neuroanatomy)

 

Experience:

• Must have experience in auditory neuroscience or electron microscopy. 

• Prefer experience with small animal surgery, immunohistochemistry and fluorescence microscopy.

Physical Requirements

Must be able to utilize a phone, computer and screen and other office equipment. While performing the duties of the job, the employee is frequently required to sit; talk; or hear and occasionally stand, walk, reach, stoop, or kneel. Must be able to occasionally lift up to 25 pounds.
