Minimum Qualifications MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:High school or high school equivalency diploma and two years of experience in the care, treatment, and habilitation of individuals with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities. Transfer in title: Currently a non-probationary DA 1 --Salary Grade 12. 70.1 Promotion/Transfer Qualifications: One-year permanent service as: Direct Support Assistant Or Direct Support Assist/IRM, Both SG-9; Licensed Practical Nurse, SG-10; Senior Licensed Practical Nurse, SG-11; Or Non- Probationary DA 1/IRM, SG-12. Simultaneous to this posting the Civil Service list for Developmental Assistant Trainee may be canvassed. Duties Description POSITION DESCRIPTION:First level supervisor; supervises and works with staff to motivate and attend to the personal daily living needs of the developmentally disabled individuals in their care.NY HELPSThis title is part of the New York Hiring for Emergency Limited Placement Statewide Program (NY HELPS). HELPS Program titles may be filled via a non-competitive appointment. This means that you do not need to take an exam to qualify, but you do need to meet the minimum qualifications of the title.If you are hired under the HELPS Program, you will be first be appointed as a temporary employee. In June 2024, if you are performing successfully in the position, your appointment will be changed from temporary to permanent non-competitive. Once you are in permanent status, your official probationary period will begin and you may take any promotion exam for which you are qualified.At a future date (within one year of permanent appointment), employees hired under NY HELPS are expected to have their permanent non-competitive employment status converted to permanent competitive status. You will not have to take an exam to gain permanent competitive status.#LI-JB3PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:• The DA 1 position will be utilized as a hands-on working supervisor who is counted as part of the daily direct care staffing minimum. • This person will assist with planning and scheduling community inclusion activities and ensures that all individuals have an opportunity to participate. • Assures that behavior and residential habilitation plans are enacted as written. • Perform house maintenance inspections and schedule needed repairs. • Completes other duties as delegated by the DA 2 & DA 3.• This person will also have supervisory duties related to the afternoon and midnight shift. • The site serves individuals who have behavior challenges. The behavioral emphasis of the program requires that the successful candidate be able to perform Restrictive Physical Interventions/Secondary tools.
