BREWER SCIENCE INC Embedded Systems Engineer in Rolla, Missouri
Brewer Science, Inc. is a major innovator of high-technology solutions for the semiconductor / microelectronics markets. We are currently seeking a purpose-driven candidate with an ownership mentality to fill an open position as an Embedded Systems Engineer (level II or III). This position will be located in Springfield, MO.
Summary:
Embedded Systems Engineers are responsible for assisting with engineering design, development, implementation, and analysis of technical products and systems to internal groups. Embedded Systems Engineers are expected to collaborate in the preparation of schematics/drawings, designs, computations, and reports. Embedded Systems Engineers are expected to work in cross-functional teams to accomplish high-level engineering systems goals.
Responsibilities:
Embedded Systems Engineer II
- Participate in the design, development, and testing of embedded systems, including firmware.
- Collaborate with upper-level engineers to implement firmware and software solutions.
- Participate in the documentation of software and firmware components.
- Determine optimized solutions, using simulation tools, 3D mechanical design software and consider geometric/size limitations and fabrication/assembly constraints.
- Contribute to intellectual property by providing product design and technical specifications.
- Create and securely store thorough and clear documentation of developed projects and procedures.
- Participate in discussions and internal preparations to anticipate and prevent design or knowledge-sharing problems with customers and ensure project success.
- Contribute to projects/matters that are simple and routine with standard techniques within the job function.
- Test, debug, monitor, and integrate hardware, software, and system components and embedded systems
- Monitor embedded systems after development.
- Work with internal customers to support product development of sensor devices and systems.
- Participate in cross-functional teams to provide software and hardware integration.
- Contribute to the design, development, and testing of embedded systems.
- Collaborate in discussions and other internal preparations to anticipate and prevent design or knowledge-sharing problems with customers and ensure project success.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate embedded solutions into product designs.
- Participate in code reviews and contribute to software documentation.
- Optimize embedded software for performance and efficiency.
- Complete assignments that meet specified objectives and timelines with moderate complexity.
- Develop new products and modify existing products to enhance performance.
- Monitor, maintain, and troubleshoot embedded systems after development.
- May present at internal/external technical presentations and industrial publications.
- Evaluate, select, and apply standard engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria under general supervision.
- Assist in the training of new team members and provide guidance on best practices.
- Consult with team lead or manager concerning unusual problems and developments.
Embedded Systems Engineer III
- Same duties as Embedded Systems Engineer II.
- Additional duties as Embedded Systems Engineer III:
- Lead discussions and other internal preparations to anticipate and prevent design or knowledge-sharing problems with customers and ensure project success.
- Contribute to projects/matters that are moderately complex within the job function.
- May lead diverse product development teams consisting of individuals from across the organization.
- Improve system efficiency and stability after development. Provide guidance/advice to entry-level Embedded Systems Engineers on existing systems and/or procedures.
- Lead the design and development of embedded systems for smart devices.
- Provide technical guidance to junior engineers and collaborate with other engineering disciplines.
- Conduct thorough testing and debugging of embedded software.
- Optimize and refactor existing embedded code for improved performance.
- May supervise or coordinate the work of technicians or others who assist in specific assignments.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams to provide technical support that ensures seamless integration of embedded systems.
- Mentor entry and mid-level engineers, provide technical guidance, and foster a culture of continuous improvement within the team.
Education and Credentials:
Embedded Systems Engineer II
- Bachelors degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer science, or related discipline and 2+ years of experience in embedded systems or equivalent or
- Masters degree in a related discipline or
- An equivalent combination of education and experience.
Embedded Systems Engineer III
- Bachelors degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer science, or related discipline and 4+ years of experience in embedded systems or
- Masters degree in a related discipline and 2+ years of experience or
- An equivalent combination of education and experience.
