Job Title:  Senior Systems Administration and Helpdesk Support

Location: Rockville, MD 

Overview: The Senior Systems Administration and Helpdesk Support professional is responsible for managing a diverse range of hardware platforms and software solutions within both on-premise and AWS cloud environments. This role is crucial for ensuring efficient operational support and robust maintenance of IT systems.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide day-to-day onsite support for the organization’s secure LAN users, virtual desktops, and laptops, ensuring effective troubleshooting, account management, application support, and general maintenance.

  • Task Area 2 – Infrastructure and Cloud Engineering Support: Actively support the infrastructure that facilitates both on-premise data center and cloud-based operations.

  • Subtask 4.2.8 – Network Security and Patch Management: Assist with the routine patching of all servers and systems, maintaining up-to-date security patches and standards. Also, manage Anti-Virus and Anti-Malware across all hosts.

  • Subtask 4.2.7 – Helpdesk Support: Provide Tier 1 support when needed, but primarily provides more advanced Tier 2 and Tier 3 support to the Helpdesk, addressing more complex technical issues and ensuring high levels of user satisfaction.

  • Support and perform Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity/Continuity of Operations Planning (COOP) as well as Backup and Recovery activities.

    Qualifications:

  • Must possess an undergraduate degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.

  • A minimum of 5 years of technical experience in systems administration and helpdesk support, with significant exposure to both on-premise and cloud environments.

  • Junior cybersecurity certification (Security+ or similar) required.

  • AWS Cloud Practitioner or similar cloud certification preferred.

  • Must possess or be able to obtain a Tier 2 Public Trust clearance.

    Tools and Technologies:

  • Proficient in managing Windows Operating Systems and applications, with solid expertise in troubleshooting and support.

  • Familiar with network management and monitoring tools, and experienced in virtualized environments such as VMWare.

    Work Hours:

  • Extended work hours from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM EST, Monday through Friday, excluding Federal holidays to accommodate additional support needs.
