Description of Duties This position is responsible for conducting outreach by engaging runaway, homeless, and street youth with the goal of addressing immediate life and safety issues, reducing the risk of sexual exploitation and abuse, reducing and preventing incidents of homelessness, and other issues. Duties involve assisting youth in crisis intervention, problem solving, action planning, and skill building by engaging in ‘authentic youth’ building through a trauma-informed lens using a system of care framework (comprehensive community-based support that provides family-driven and youth-guided services). The employee reports directly to, and works under the general supervision of, a Senior Youth Engagement Specialist or other higher‑level staff member. Does related work as required. Minimum Qualifications
Graduation from high school or possession of an equivalency diploma PLUS either:
(A) Graduation with a Bachelor’s degree; OR,
(B) Graduation with an Associate’s degree plus one (1) year paid full-time or its part-time equivalent professional** experience developing programming for youth services or direct youth service work, both of which must have involved working with disadvantaged/high-risk youth, such as those that are homeless, suffering from substance abuse disorder, or survivors of violence or sex trafficking, or other disadvantaged situations; OR,
(C) Three (3) years paid full-time or its part-time equivalent professional** experience developing programming for youth services or direct youth service work both of which must have involved working with disadvantaged/ high-risk youth, such as those that are homeless, suffering from substance abuse disorder, or survivors of violence or sex trafficking, or other disadvantaged situations; OR,
(D) An equivalent combination of education and experience as defined by the limits of (A), (B) and (C) above.
**Professional, for the purposes of these minimum qualifications, does not include clerical, secretarial, manual labor or similar work.
