SUMMARY

Manager, under the direction of the Department/Division/Administrative Director, will manage day to day operations including accuracy for patient results, instrumentation, regulatory issues, procedures and processes as appropriate. They will supervise department staff and manage financial and staffing budgets appropriately. They will work with affiliates to standardize best practices throughout the laboratory departments.

DEPARTMENT: Labs

SCHEDULE: Monday - Friday, Days

ATTRIBUTES
  • BS in Medical Technology
OR
  • BS in a related Science and/or equivalent relevant experience as recognized by New York State.
AND
  • Department of Education for licensure as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist.
  • Minimum 6 years experience as a medical technologist required
  • Current New York State Department of Education License as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist required
  • Previous experience in a laboratory supervisory or leadership position preferred
RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Technical Supervision: Scheduling of technical staff appropriate to workflow patterns. Assures that the procedures/manuals and instruments used conform to good laboratory practice. Assures the validity of laboratory results.
  • Human Resource Management: Interviews, hires, plans training, supervises, disciplines, and terminates personnel in their department in conjunction with the Manager in Lab Administration responsible for HR. Maintains LA staffing files according to regulatory requirements and reviews files annually for completeness.
  • Financial & Materials Management: Prepares and monitors staffing, operating, and capital budgets adhereing to approved budgets, reporting variances to Administrative Director. Maintaines needed stock and supplies. Conferes with sales representatives obtaining best supply price whereever possible and service representatives to monitors preventative maintenance programs for lab equipment.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Is responsible for and adheres to all regulatory standards and inspections for the department. Successfully completes, monitors and generates appropriate reports for QA and QC activities of all staff and department.
  • Training & Competency: Is responsible for department orientation, oversees staff educational needs, training, and staff competency assessment. Assists in teaching the schools of medical technology and phlebotomy programs as requested. Demonstrates commitment to the RGHS Standards of Behavior consistently-STARS-Service, Teamwork, Attitude, Respect and Standards. Supports a commitment to excellence every day and leadership development. Additional duties and responsibilities as requested by Director or Sr Manager.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: M - Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects; Requires frequent walking, standing or squatting.

PAY RANGE: $90,000.00 - $110,000.00

The listed base pay range is a good faith representation of current potential base pay for successful applicants. It may be modified in the future. Pay is determined by factors including experience, relevant qualifications, specialty, internal equity, location, and contracts.
