University of Rochester EAP Counselor in Rochester, New York

GENERAL PURPOSE:

The Employee Assistance Consultant for Crisis and Care Coordination (EAC for CCC) functions as the on-call consultant during the scheduled workday, providing crisis consultation and coordination to employees and the adult family members of EAP customer organizations. Assists EAP clients in achieving an optimal level of wellbeing and productivity, helping to coordinate referrals and care in the community.

As an integral member of the Employee Assistance Program (EAP) Team, the CCC provides EAP core services, including rotating after hours on-call responsibility, EAP workplace consultations, and assessment of assigned clients.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Clinical responsibilities:

  • Performs emergent assessment and risk assessment of employees and household members presenting to EAP in a crisis

  • Facilitates referrals to mental health resources

  • Ensures continuity of care of EAP clients including follow up prior to case close

  • Conducts intakes and short-term counseling consistent with EAP model of care

Administrative responsibilities

  • Maintains ethical and timely documentation of all clinical work in EAP case management system

  • Maintains records related to high acuity cases and supports the analysis of data to plan for acute employee needs

Consultative responsibilities

  • Represents EAP on emergency management and threat assessment, and/or wellness committees

  • Maintains relationships with, and identifies new, key strategic internal and external partners to provide mental health and community resource assistance.

  • Acts as an internal resource to EAP colleagues to facilitate referral to mental health services for all covered lives and community resources for University of Rochester employees

Organizational support responsibilities

  • Provides consultation and guidance to supervisors/managers, including risk assessment and management, of employee crisis or concern

  • Provides group support sessions and outreach; participation in EAP training programs; service on university committees and other duties as assigned.

  • Provides consultation in response to a critical incident and coordination to completion; identifies or provides support response.

  • Provides critical incident response interventions

  • Assists with oversight, training, recruitment, and administration of peer support team(s).

Care coordination responsibilities:

  • Documents and tracks referral sources, numbers, types of referrals

  • Maintains an updated community resource guide.

  • Provides referral and short-term case management to employees who need supportive services and/or resources

  • Develops liaison relationships with community mental health providers and community resources such as housing, clothing, utilities, food, and personal budgeting and finances.

On Call:

  • Participates in on-call activities of the EAP as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master's degree with major course work in mental health counseling required.

  • 3 years of experience with mental health emergencies and crisis intervention required.

  • Or equivalent combination of education and experience required.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Demonstrated experience in clinical case management and navigating systems of care to advocate for client’s needs for individuals at risk and/or with acute mental health needs required.

  • Experience and success in working with individuals from a range of cultural and socio-economic backgrounds required.

  • Deep understanding of the challenges faced by those seeking additional assistance, extensive knowledge of local resources, as well as compassionate communication skills required.

Certification

  • NYS licensure as a mental health practitioner, certification as an Employee Assistance Professional or NYS Credentialed Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Counselor (CASAC)/ (CASAC-T) required. Must obtain licensure or credential within 36 months of hire date.

Pay Range

Pay Range: $ 57,595 - $ 80,600 Annually

The referenced pay range represents the minimum and maximum compensation for this job. Individual annual salaries/hourly rates will be set within the job’s compensation range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations.
