Apply for Job Job ID361601 LocationRochester Job FamilyEducation-General Full/Part TimePart-Time Regular/TemporaryTemporary Job Code9754 Employee ClassAcad Prof and Admin Add to Favorite Jobs Email this Job About the Job Adjunct Faculty (Teaching Specialist or Lecturer): Special Topics in Music The University of Minnesota Rochester (https://www.r.umn.edu) is seeking a temporary, non-tenured Teaching Specialist or Lecturer, paid on a per credit basis, to teach one section of an academic band course (1 credit), Special Topics in Music: Instrumental Ensemble for the Fall 2024 semester. The course will focus on a variety of repertoire from different periods, cultures, and styles, allowing students to demonstrate an understanding of creative expression by collaborating in performance on multiple musical works. The adjunct faculty member in this role will support students in an instrumental ensemble to express their understanding and interpretation of works of art critically and imaginatively through rehearsal and performance. The appointment is primarily teaching-based and is made semester by semester. Employment is contingent on the course meeting its enrollment target. Instruction is expected to be in-person. Job Responsibilities Teaching (90%) Attend class meetings and deliver course content. Evaluate student performance and submit grading. Respond to student inquiries and meet with students. Course Preparation (10%) Complete orientation. Meet with appropriate faculty and gather information as needed. Develop course content and syllabus as needed. Qualifications Required Qualifications A Master's degree in a related field is required to be hired as a Teaching Specialist A PhD degree in music (or closely related field) is required to be hired as a Lecturer Educational experience in a context related to the teaching assignment Preferred Qualifications Experience with active learning pedagogy Experience with online teaching How To Apply Applications must be submitted online.
