The minimum salary for this position is $58,780.80 The University of Minnesota Rochester, an innovative campus of the University of Minnesota system, is searching for a new colleague with excellent data analysis and communication skills to serve in the essential and dynamic role of Learning Data Analyst. Reporting to the Director of Information Technology, this position will serve campus-level learning analytics, including data collection for the established assessment plan. Further, this position will provide support to faculty who investigate student learning as their primary research area in the distinctive environment of the Center for Learning Innovation. This position will have the opportunity to develop processes, interact closely with faculty, and serve at the intersection of institutional assessment, institutional research, and learning analytics. At this dynamic one-of-a-kind campus designed for learning innovation, the UMR Learning Data Analyst will interpret, monitor, and analyze information regarding student learning and related campus-level data yielding actionable information. The learning data analyst will work closely and collaboratively with faculty from a variety of disciplines to support UMR's grounding value of "evidence based decision making", working to develop, implement, and support analytic tools, data modeling, data processing, and reports for faculty researchers and administrators. The position collaborates closely with faculty and other colleagues across the campus, and works to meet the needs of campus stakeholders to advance the campus Vision, including faculty conducting learning research, enrollment management, marketing, and administration. Duties and Responsibilities Support of Learning Analytics for Faculty Research-50% Work with colleagues to develop a Service Level Agreement that is responsive to faculty and administrative needs while setting appropriate expectations and an effective and efficient service and delivery protocol. Communicate with faculty to support their learning research, working to develop understanding of key learning questions, solve problems, and explore the data from multiple angles Build collaborative relationships with faculty and staff, listening to discern appropriate support for the campus vision and the grounding value of evidence-based decision making. In a collaborative, innovative environment, interact with, influence, and serve faculty and staff with written summaries and/or presentations on assigned projects. Support colleagues to advance the campus mission, working closely with system colleagues. Engage with faculty and the Vice Chancellor to determine data and technology support needed to advance the campus vision and enact the grounding value of evidence-based decision making. Support of Institutional Research-50% Drive and support the answering of key campus questions by developing research methodology, gathering data and/or using appropriate statistical techniques on available data. In a collaborative, innovative environment, interact with, influence, and serve senior leaders with written summaries and/or presentations on assigned projects. Participate in collection of new data and the refinement of existing data sources; apply appropriate programming and/or computational techniques to accomplish this work. Analyze the problem, question existing processes and assumptions, gather data and information, find and evaluate alternative solutions, and propose the best course of action. Communicate, convey, and visualize informed conclusions and recommendations across an organization's leadership structure in a manner to "tell the st ry" behind the data and influence how organization approaches the challenge. May delineate the information to be gathered, collect data at the project inception, prescribe how to structure the data, and specify the data warehousing structure for future access. Through data, may predict what actions will be taken in a designated time frame for a prescribed issue/challenge. Collaborate with other components of the University of Minnesota system to gather data. Proactively seek and locate data, including outside benchmarks or comparative data, to support or refute proposed decisions. Other duties may also be assigned by the Vice Chancellor. Required Qualifications: BA/BS degree or a combination of related education and work experience to equal at least four years. Experience working independently in a rapidly changing scientific environment. Knowledge of healthcare data management concepts and regulatory/compliance policies (HIPAA, IRB, etc.). Superior human relation skills, such as, the ability to use positive language communications to collaborate with others Ability to support multiple projects simultaneously, prioritize assignments and work under limited supervision. Comfortable providing rapid and timely response to urgent requests. Comfortable following directions/instructions from supervisors and senior staff.
