Teradata Junior Database Administrator in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia

What You’ll Do

  • Teradata DBA specializes In DatabaseAdministration, Operation, Monitoring, Backup of several Teradata Engines.

  • Working as DBA consultant within the Managed Services team supporting one of Teradata’s premier accounts, this individual must have the skills necessary to understand the overall data warehouse architecture and you will be required to do the below tasks successfully: -

  1. User & Database Management: Creation and managing Users, Databases, Roles, Profiles and Accounts.

  2. Handling the backup, archive, restore jobs across different Teradata Engines as for planning, configuration, scheduling, monitoring, and troubleshooting in case of any fails.

  3. Maintaining the NetBackup configuration for Policies, Retention Periods, Tapes, backup images and reports.

  4. Configuring Proactively alerts for all Database aspects such as System Health, Blocking issues, Space allocation, Misuse of resources, Idle Sessions. Also doing Real Time monitoring for the system using Viewpoint for any performance degradation issues.

  5. Database Object Management: Housekeeping activities, Historical Data activities.

  6. Maintaining and configuring different workloads using TASM based on the different roles in the environment (Loading, Ad-hoc requests, APIs, etc.…) with the appropriate priorities.

  7. Maintaining the environment Security Matrix based on the different roles and different schemas.

  8. Creating periodically reports for the customer stating the current system status and the latest improvements.

  9. Investigate and troubleshoot any Database service failure and working with the offshore support on solving the issue.

  10. Attending the Database upgrades and performing the necessary Health Checks.

  11. Deploy database change scripts provided byother team members.

Who You’ll Work With

  • You will work within a multi-disciplinary team at one or more of Teradata’s premier accounts across a variety of Industries within Saudi Arabia.

  • You will report to a Managed Services Technical Delivery Manager

What Makes You a Qualified Candidate

  • Excellent Communication skills

  • Willingness and aptitude to learn new technology

  • Good knowledge of IT concepts

  • In depth knowledge of the Microsoft Office toolset

  • Exposure to relational Database concepts

  • 1-2 years of experience

What You’ll Bring

  • Working knowledge of IT concepts

  • Working knowledge of Linux Commands and Shell Scripting

  • Strong communication skills, both written and oral (Arabic and English as a minimum)

  • Good Presentation Skills

  • Very Good Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills

  • Operational mind-set key to maximize environment availability.
