Job overview and responsibilities

Coordinates the SESMT Team, providing guidance and conducting the daily basis routine of the team, as well as the occupational hygiene actions in the company's units. Deals with leaders across all divisions to ensure compliance and discuss the development of actions to control occupational risks. Develops and implements programs and procedures relating to the various legal requirements of Occupational Health and Safety (OH&S) applicable to the business. Develops specific studies in the area of performance, as well as to issue specialized opinions in occupational safety engineering, projects, evaluations of the labor condition, expert examinations and audits.

• Technically coordinates the SESMT team on a daily basis, providing guidance and conducting periodic meetings with the team of Occupational Safety Technicians and Occupational Physicians, in order to promote action plans for the company's occupational health and safety issues

• Deals daily with leaders across all divisions to ensure compliance with safety procedures and discuss the development of actions to control occupational risks

• Coordinate occupational hygiene actions in the company's units, interacting with partners inside and outside of the organization, aiming at a safe and healthy work environment and continuous improvement of processes

• Develop and implement programs and procedures relating to the various legal requirements of Occupational Health and Safety (OH&S) applicable to the business, by defining strategies and methods of implementation following corporate parameters and those of the OH&S Management Brazil, maintaining compliance and identifying discrepancies with respect to local legislation and corporate policies

• Develop specific studies in the area of performance, as well as to issue specialized opinions in occupational safety engineering, projects, evaluations of the labor condition, expert examinations and audits

• Analyze work methods and places of work and their relation to possible occupational risk factors, as well as investigate work-related accidents and illnesses and create key performance indicators

• Perform various periodic inspections and follow up on corrective action plans and improvement opportunities

• Develop and conduct training, campaigns, lectures, and other actions to strengthen the knowledge and awareness of the workforce around the procedures and disseminate preventive practices

This position is offered on local terms and conditions. Expatriate assignments and sponsorship for employment visas, even on a time-limited visa status, will not be awarded.

Qualifications

What’s needed to succeed (Minimum Qualifications):

• Bachelor's degree

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering with postgraduate degree in Occupational Safety Engineering

• CREA registration as an Occupational Safety Engineer

• 3+ years of experience as an Occupational Safety Engineer

• 3+ years of experience in SESMT coordination

• 2+ years of experience in Occupational Hygiene

• Mastery of regulatory standards (NRs) and social security norms in occupational health and safety

• Previous experience as an Occupational Safety Technician

• Previous experience with Occupational Health and Safety Management System

• Knowledge of environmental risk assessment methodologies (physical, chemical and biological)

• Expertise in defining occupational risk assessment strategies

• Ability to determine and classify occupational hazards

• Must be legally authorized to work in Brazil for any employer without sponsorship

• Must be fluent in English and Portuguese (written and spoken)

• Successful completion of interview required to meet job qualification

• Reliable, punctual attendance is an essential function of the position
