The Sr. Regional Manager is part of the Laboratory Chemicals Division (LCD) which provides chemistry solutions for the pharmaceutical, agrochemical, diagnostic, detection, electronic, fuel cell, paints and coatings markets. LCD supports our academic, commercial, CRO, industry and government customers from research and development through to manufacturing throughout the world.

How will you make an impact?

Reporting to the Sr. Director of Sales – NA, the Sr. Sales Manager is responsible for building and managing a team of sales representatives to sell the full LCD portfolio of products. This role is accountable for ensuring that the Eastern Region develops opportunities for growth within an existing customer base and via our channel partnerships (including RSD), assuring market penetration, new business development opportunities, and achieving targets for sales forecasts and profitability. This position is covering the East Region of the United States and will require travel throughout the region.

What will you do?

  • Lead a sales team to deliver bookings, revenue, profitability, and gain market share using Salesforce.com CRM and other tools such as PowerBI.

  • Lead all aspects of talent management, including recruitment and selection processes, coaching, mentoring, training, development, and performance management of team members.

  • Develop and deploy strategic and tactical sales plans with your team to pursue substantive growth of Fine Chemical Products and Laboratory Analytical Reagents.

  • Schedule and lead formal sales activities, including capabilities-based presentations; focus groups; technical seminars; and new product launches to drive sales.

  • Represent and promote the Laboratory Chemicals’ value proposition at all levels within your team, and in the industry.

  • Provide market intelligence and appropriate detail regarding account sales position as requested.

  • Direct daily sales representative activities to ensure customer focus, timely customer response, and customer follow-up where required.

  • Partner with appropriate colleagues to develop the commercial sales plan in assigned territory and developing/implementing tactics to accomplish growth targets.

  • Coordinate and create positive relationships with various levels of our internal channel partnerships, as well as internal and external distribution teams.

  • Implement joint calls with channel and distribution leadership, management and representatives as needed to coordinate sales and product training, and further technical sales activities.

Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree required; Science or Business focus preferred.

  • 7+ years’ experience in sales, preferably within a major company in the life sciences industry, with 2+ years in sales management strongly preferred

  • Experience leading a team of “hunter-minded” sales professionals.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

  • Strong negotiation skills

  • Excellent communication skills (up, down and sideways within the organization)

  • Must have a detailed understanding of product profitability and general business financials

  • Ability to travel 50-75%

  • Strong organization, multitasking and project management abilities

  • Strong CRM skills, preferably SalesForce.com
