About the Opportunity

The Network Services Department has an immediate opening for a Network Capacity Planner, reporting to the Sr Manager, Product Manager.

Network Capacity Planning ensures sufficient capacity is available to meet the mission of the Federal Reserve. You will create monthly and ad hoc capacity reviews and monitor implementation of approved capacity changes. This involves transforming large data sets to identify and highlight potential issues and crafting recommendations. You will work closely with Network Engineering and internal stakeholders. You will be part of an Agile squad focused on Provisioning and Capacity Planning.

The Network Capacity Planner will provide collaborative or consultative work of varying complexity in areas of technology related strategic direction and support, problem resolution, and translating and executing business requirements for assigned IT business areas. The individual will direct methodologies and measures to ensure appropriate processes and procedures are effective and meet IT standards. They will also coordinate, plan and execute solutions to meet needs of clients, work teams and/or internal or external organization management groups. The individual may collaborate and/or coordinate with cross functional teams. Senior level position requires a seasoned professional with a full understanding of industry practices. Requires high level of experience and proficiency in field.

What You Will Do:

  • Provide high level consulting services to clients in order to evaluate, recommend, design and implement technical solutions and process improvements in areas related to information technology.

  • Anticipate client needs and identifies client requirements by establishing personal rapport with all clients and internal/external resources to understand business and technology requirements.

  • Demonstrate knowledge of supported client areas and builds relationships by assessing, evaluating and fully understanding the needs and requirements of clients.

  • Advise clients on best practices and how to implement the necessary changes to address their business needs. May prepare recommended alternatives. Reviews and assesses necessary data to be used in addressing the client’s business and technology needs.

  • Provide strategic guidance and support to clients and leaders in complex situations.

  • Lead process improvement and long-term technical solution discussions and presents outcomes in written and verbal format to senior management.

  • Oversee initial project development surrounding new processes and the integrating of new processes with existing ones. Communicates these changes to impacted clients and other resources.

  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Knowledge: Comprehensive knowledge pertaining to concepts and principles of Networking and data analysis/science. General knowledge of department/business lines, Reserve Banks, and / or System operations, policies, procedures and technologies.

  • Communication: Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, creativity, attention to detail, and oral and written communications skills tailored for the intended audience.

  • Risk Management: The Capacity Planner is responsible for understanding and applying risk management discipline in decision making and contributing to his or her function’s risk management.

  • Decision Making: Works under direction and guidance in planning details of procedures and methods to attain definite objectives. Makes decisions within established or widely accepted standards. Achieves assigned/planned results by decisions and actions based on professional methods, training, business principles, and practical experience.

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience with 6 to 9+ years of relevant work experience.

  • The hiring range is $112,400 – $154,550 annually.

  • For candidates outside Richmond, VA, listed hiring and salary ranges may be adjusted based on your geographic location.

  • Salary offered will be based on the job responsibilities and the individual’s knowledge, skills, and experience as defined in the job qualifications.
