About the Position: Serves as the technical and administrative supervisor over the Protective Equipment Division exercising full supervisory responsibilities over work operations. Responsibilities Plans use of subordinate workers equipment, facilities, and materials on a week-to-week or month-to-month basis. Establishes deadlines, priorities, and work sequences, and plan work assignments based on general work schedules, methods, and policies set by higher levels of supervision. Participates with superiors in the initial planning of current and future work schedules, budget requests, staffing needs, estimates, and recommendations as to scheduling projected work. Explains tasks and mission requirements to subordinates. Plans and establishes overall leave schedule. Determines training needs of subordinates and arranges for its accomplishment. Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of an Protective Equipment Mechanic/Inspector Supervisor without more than normal supervision - I have the ability to perform the full range of supervisor duties. I am skilled in providing instructions and, assigning immediate tasks to be performed by individual members of the group led, insuring that needed plans, materials, and tools are available and that any needed stock is obtained from supply. I also am skilled in checking work in progress and finished work, demonstrating proper work methods. I work independently subject to general supervision.- Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating. Ability to Interpret Instructions, Specifications, etc. (Other Than Blueprint Reading) Ability to Lead or Supervise Ability to Use and Maintain Tools and Equipment Knowledge of Equipment Assembly, Installation, and Repair, etc. Technical Practices (Theoretical, Precise, Artistic) Troubleshooting Use of Measuring Instruments PHYSICAL EFFORT; Requires manual dexterity to operate machine controls. Required to lift and/or carry items weighing up to 45 pounds. Heavier items will require the assistance of other employees, forklifts, etc. Requires manual dexterity to operate machine controls. Required to life and/or carry items weighing up to 45 pounds. WORKING CONDITIOINS: Work requires standing, stooping, bending and walking on concrete floors for long periods. Term Appointment NTE - Position may be filled as a term appointment NTE 15 January 2026. Term appointments may be extended beyond six (6) years, up to eight (8) years. With DoD approval, term appointments may be extended beyond eight (8) years. Current permanent Federal employees to include permanent Army employees applying for a term appointment will be appointed/converted into a term appointment with no statutory return rights back to a permanent position. When a current Army employee applies to a JOA opened for a term appointment, the action will be a conversion to a term appointment. Education Additional Information Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration. You will be required to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship. One year trial/probationary period may be required. Direct deposit of pay is required.
