Job Title: Cybersecurity Engineer
Job Description
A customized hardware/software engineering company is seeking an experienced Cybersecurity Engineer. The ideal candidate will define cybersecurity development and test efforts, implement security controls for networking devices, databases, operating systems, and hardware/software components. The Security Engineer will conduct cybersecurity audits and support the development, understanding, and integration of cybersecurity development activities, requirements, design & architecture artifacts, plans, and policies. The selected candidate will be subject to government security investigations and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.
Responsibilities
Define cybersecurity development and test efforts
Implement security controls for networking devices, databases, operating systems, and hardware/software components
Conduct cybersecurity audits
Support the development, understanding, and integration of cybersecurity activities, requirements, design & architecture artifacts, plans, and policies
Author and review cybersecurity documents, program protection security plans, and program-specific security plans
Create implementations for cybersecurity plans
Perform penetration testing and scans
Provide mentorship and guidance to software and hardware engineers
Participate in software and hardware architecture design for security
Interface with systems, mechanical, electrical, and software engineers
Work with liability and systems factor teams
Create deliverable documents for customers
Approach and address customer questions as needed
Essential Skills
U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain and retain a DoD Secret security clearance
BS degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, Information Management, or related technical field
Minimum of 7+ years of technical experience
Experience with security features and/or vulnerability analysis of various operating systems as defined by Intelligence agencies, NIST, and USCYBERCOM
Experience with cybersecurity vulnerability testing and related network/system test tools (e.g., NMap, Nessus, SCAP)
Experience with information security tools including anti-virus, Vulnerability Assessment, host-based/endpoint security solutions, MFA, SIEM, and centralized auditing tools
IT and/or network/system security admin experience, including operating system security configuration and account management for UNIX, Windows, Red Hat Enterprise Linux, and CISCO systems
Ability to collaborate in a team environment, prioritize tasks, and develop solutions for complex problems
Additional Skills & Qualifications
DoDI 8570.01-M IAT Level-II Compliant Certification (e.g., Security+ or CISSP or equivalent)
Familiarity with NIST Risk Management Framework (RMF), NIST 800-171, and NIST 800-53
Familiarity with Program Protection Plan (PPP) required by DoDI 5000.02 and DoDI 5200.39
Multi-level security and utilization of Cross Domain Solutions
Experience working on U.S. Government contract proposals as a Cybersecurity subject matter expert
Familiarity with JAMA requirements and AlienVault Audit management tools
MS in Information Systems Technology or related technical field
Current Secret or Top Secret Security Clearance
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $50.00 - $85.00/hr.
