SUMMARY: Maintaining and repairing various plant equipment. Responsible for housekeeping, inspection, maintenance and repair. Maintains employee communications and relationships and supports company goals. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Be able to have the skills required to do the various tasks associated with repairs and maintenance such as welding, grinding, drilling, tapping, etc. Troubleshoot, isolate defects, locate problems, correct, adjust, and repair plant systems and equipment. Have a working knowledge of all the equipment used in the maintenance and machine shop and be able to operate the machines in the machine shop safely and efficiently. Understand all plant safety procedures and safety equipment including electrical lock out-tag out procedures, the correct starting and stopping of machines, basic rigging procedures and the use of firefighting equipment and their locations. Locate and safely rig scaffolds, hydraulic lift equipment, ladders and similar devices used for maintenance operations that are elevated from the floor. Be able to work with and communicate with the supervisor and others to coordinate repair work or accomplish projects working as a team. Know how to follow precise instructions and be able to take control of the assigned job and see it through to completion. Maintain a clean and safe work area and report any unsafe conditions or machinery to the department supervisor. Train new employees on correct work procedures and methods.
