ICF Communications Specialist in Reston, Virginia

Description

ICF seeks a Communications Specialist to work on a national technical assistance project. The purpose of this project is to provide legal services for Unaccompanied Children post-release from Office of Refugee Resettlement (ORR) care and custody and to expand the legal community’s skills and capacity to provide immigration legal support.

The Communications Specialist will use his/her expertise to ensure the services are widely promoted to the correct audiences through the development, management and troubleshooting of communication and dissemination strategies.

The Communications Specialist will work closely with and under the oversight of the Communications and Outreach Lead to execute essential communication and outreach strategies through the development and dissemination of high-quality work products.

Key Responsibilities

  • In collaboration with the client and project leadership, develop and implement a communication plan.

  • Implement a comprehensive schedule for rolling out strategies that support effective management of messaging frequency and audience saturation, and track reach and engagement.

  • Support an array of in-person and technology-based communications solutions to facilitate outreach, education, and ongoing communication with Post Release Services and Unaccompanied Children/sponsors.

  • Create messaging, content, and communications tools, ensuring that communications are based on a clear understanding of target audiences’ needs and preferences, use engaging and plain language, are user-friendly and visually appealing, and follow digital and marketing writing best practices.

  • Work with the client and project leadership to gather input and feedback on content and strategy and revise as necessary.

  • Disseminate content, leveraging pre-existing messaging, lists and channels where possible, including e-mail contact lists and dissemination software to share invitations to training events and promote access to resources, tools, guidance documents, and e-learnings for staff; virtual meeting platforms and registration sites to facilitate opportunities for engagement, knowledge and skill building, discussion, webinars and feedback for staff; and digital content.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in social work, public administration, communications, public relations, or related field which requires an understanding of written communication. 5 years’ experience in a similar role can be substituted for the bachelor’s degree.

  • A minimum of 2 years of project related experience.

  • A minimum of 1 year experience working with national communication/ dissemination channels or outreach efforts.

  • A minimum 1 year experience developing communication packages, strategies, or plans for an organization or project .

  • U.S. Citizenship required (required by federal government for position).

Preferred Skills

  • Project Management Professional or similar certification

  • Education and/or experience in the application of race equity, diversity, and inclusion of social justice strategies in human service settings.

  • Working knowledge of the refugee, immigrant, and asylee challenges.

  • Experience working for a refugee program.

Pay Range - There are multiple factors that are considered in determining final pay for a position, including, but not limited to, relevant work experience, skills, certifications and competencies that align to the specified role, geographic location, education and certifications as well as contract provisions regarding labor categories that are specific to the position.

The pay range for this position based on full-time employment is:

$56,467.00 - $116,152.00
