Leidos has a current job opening for a Cloud Network Engineer supporting the BEC-1 program. As a Cloud Network Engineer you will be responsible primarily for the maintenance and daily operations of the current ABIS 2.0 configuration in AWS GovCloud and development / deployment of new network functionality as directed by the program’s client. Applicant should be able to design and develop solutions with minimal assistance from peers. Daily duties include sustainment of virtual/cloud environments and designing and implementing new technologies. Should also be able to review peers' designs and ensure solution is sound. Must be able to work in a team environment and collaborate when needed. Adaptability and thinking outside the box to meet complex customer requirement is key. This is a high-profile program supporting projects working on highly visible applications AND building the next generation biometric applications

Your Main Mission:

  • Possesses and applies expertise on multiple complex work assignments. Assignments may be broad in nature, requiring originality and innovation in determining how to accomplish tasks. Operates with appreciable latitude in developing methodology and presenting solutions to problems.Contributes to deliverables and performance metrics where applicable.

  • Provides technical guidance for directing and monitoring information systems operations. Designs, builds, and implements network systems primarily in cloud environments.

  • Performs system-level design and configuration of products including determination of hardware, OS, cloud-based and other platform specifications.

  • Ensures DOD cyber compliance of all assigned systems / equipment.

  • Performs a variety of systems engineering tasks and activities that are broad in nature and are concerned with major systems design, integration, and implementation, including personnel, hardware, software, budgetary, and support facilities and/or equipment to include cloud services.

  • Directs compilation of records and reports concerning network operations and maintenance. Troubleshoots network performance issues. Analyzes network traffic and provides capacity-planning solutions.

  • Monitors and responds to complex technical control facility hardware and software problems. Interfaces with vendor support service groups to ensure proper escalation during outages or periods of degraded system performance.

  • Manages the testing, installation, and support of network communications, including LAN/MAN/WAN and cloud-based systems

  • Provides quality assurance review and the evaluation of new and existing network related products.

  • Provides input to policy level discussions regarding standards and budget constraints.

  • Monitors / mentors more junior network engineers on staff.

  • Provides the routine testing and analysis of all elements of the network facilities

  • Utilizes software and hardware tools and identifies and diagnoses complex problems and factors affecting network performance.

  • Troubleshoots network systems when necessary and makes improvements to the network

What Sets You Apart:

  • Cloud Experience:

  • AWS network and content delivery experience

  • Firewall experience (Fortinet / Fortigate experience preferred)

  • Terraform and Git experience

  • Network design and architecture knowledge

  • Must be able to obtain DOD 8570 certifications (Cyber Security and Environment) within 6 months of hire

  • Must be able to obtain DOD Secret clearance within 6 months of hire

  • Typically requires BS degree (or equivalent experience) and 8+ years of prior relevant experience or Masters with 6 + years of prior relevant experience. Additional experience will be considered in lieu of degree.

  • Strong communication skills via documentation and verbally

  • Demonstrated experience for client support of large-scale enterprise applications

You Might Also Have:

  • Certifications/experience in AWS, Azure, or other cloud environments.

Clearance Required:

  • Must be able to obtain a Secret clearance within 6 months of hire.

Pay Range:

Pay Range $87,100.00 - $157,450.00

The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline onlyand not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law.
