PAY RANGE

The Target Pay Range for this position is $27.40-$33.46 hourly. The full Pay Range is $21.25-$39.57 hourly. At BECU, compensation decisions are determined using factors such as relevant job-related skills, experience, and education or training. Should an offer for employment be made, we will consider individual qualifications. In addition to your salary, compensation incentives are available for the hired applicant. Incentives are performance based and targets vary by role.

Employees have access to disability and AD&D insurance. We also offer health care and dependent care flexible spending accounts, as well as health savings accounts, to eligible employees. Employees are able to enroll in our company’s 401k plan and employer-funded retirement plan. Newly hired employees accrue 6.16 hours of paid time off (PTO) on a per pay period basis based on hours worked (up to a maximum of 160 PTO hours per year) and receive ten paid holidays throughout the calendar year. IMPACT YOU’LL MAKE :

As a Loan Loss Recovery Specialist, you will be at the forefront of our financial health, ensuring the recovery of funds previously marked as losses. Your expertise will enable you to contribute significantly to the sustainability and growth of BECU. By leveraging your knowledge of policies and procedures, you’ll ensure that every action aligns with our philosophy and standards. You will become a crucial part of a dedicated team, enhancing our processes and driving improvements, while fostering a collaborative environment.

WHAT YOU'LL DO :

  • Negotiate Settlements: Engage with consumers, attorneys, and third parties to settle charged-off accounts, ensuring both compliance and effectiveness in collections.

  • Consistent Follow-Up: Ensure prompt action on all legal and collection accounts, securing timely recoveries.

  • Monitor Accounts: Track and address the status of pending accounts diligently using the Collection System, ensuring accurate documentation.

  • Locate Consumers: Use skip-tracing techniques to locate individuals and recover outstanding debts.

  • Serve as Escalation Point: Act as the primary contact for complex Loan Loss Recovery issues, providing resolutions effectively.

  • Document Procedures: Ensure all responsibilities within our various procedures are clearly documented.

  • Recommend Improvements: Suggest enhancements to the Loan Loss Recovery processes, contributing to operational efficiency.

  • Report Issues: Identify and report any issues that may affect recovery or negatively impact BECU.

  • Input and Process Accounts: Manage daily inputs of new charged-off accounts, process payments, handle returned mail, and prepare relevant claims and letters.

  • Liaise with Collection Agencies: Coordinate closely with collection agencies, acting as the main point of contact.

  • Comply with Laws: Strictly adhere to Washington State and federal laws in all collection actions, documenting thoroughly.

QUALIFICATIONS :

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Associate’s degree in business administration, or equivalent work or educational experience.

  • Minimum 5 years of customer service experience, including 3 years in collections.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Previous experience with financial services products.

  • Knowledge of state and federal laws relating to collections.

  • Strong compliance with the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.

  • Ability to exercise confidentiality and discretionary judgment.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Proficient PC skills, with the ability to learn new software.

  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and work well under deadlines.
