Job Description Summary
Consulting Services, a part of GE Vernova, has offices in multiple countries and offers global clients (external & GE Vernova verticals) a wide range of solutions across the entire spectrum of power generation, delivery, and utilization. Consulting Services at GE Vernova is a team that has comprehensive global experience in power system studies including in-depth experience in analyzing shunt and series compensations including application of SVCs, FACTS, HVDC, synchronous condensers, STATCOMs, and power plant and transmission system dynamic controls. Our global team has extensive professional experience with leading power system simulation and analysis software tools such as PSLF, PSS/E, PowerFactory, PSCAD, EMTP, ASPEN, ETAP, other commercial application tools, and many specialized in-house tools. Our team also has deep experience with voltage control and reactive planning issues as well as the tools and procedures that are most effective in studying them. We perform detailed steady state, voltage and transient stability studies of regional transmission systems, generation interconnections, and renewable generation impacts, as well as specialized studies for sub-synchronous resonance, and torsional and control interactions.
Job Description
Role Summary /Purpose
As a member of the Consulting Services Grid Integration and Stability (GIS) practice area, the selected candidate will be an active contributor to the GE Vernova business initiatives related to power systems and power electronics equipment and services to support energy transition.
This position is eligible for remote work within the United States.
Essential Responsibilities
Perform technical analysis related to power electronic and power systems control of renewable generation, battery energy storage systems, large industrial drives and FACTS.
Supportcustomerswithpowersystemsengineeringexpertise;includingmodeling,analysis,equipmentdesign and specification,andfailuremodeanalysis
Create,modifyandparametrizesimulationmodelsrepresentingGE Vernova inverter-based resource (IBR) productslike wind turbines,solarandbatterystorage
Evaluategridcodecompliance standards and their impact on renewable energy projects in bulkpowersystems
Supportdevelopment of transmissionanddistribution connected IBR and distributed energy resource (DER) productsforevolvingcodesandstandardsthroughparticipation in industrystandardsgroups
Performpowersystemtransientstudies,anddetailedequipmentmodelingusingappropriate softwaretools
Effectivelycommunicateresults to bothinternal and externalcustomers by preparingdetailedwrittenreportsandpresentationsdescribinganalysesperformed,solutionsdeveloped, and customer valuepropositions
Enhanceindustryknowledgeandpresenttechnicalcontentinregionalforumsandconferences;serveas a thoughtleader in industryactivities

Qualifications/Requirements
Master’sdegree in electrical engineering or electricpowerengineering
Minimum three (3) years of industry experienceperformingtransientanalysisusingsimulationtoolslikePSCAD/EMTDC and EMTP
Minimum three (3) years of industry experiencewiththeuseandapplication of commonprogramminglanguages(e.g.Python,MATLAB, FORTRAN)
Strong background in power system analysis
Solid understanding of inverter-based resources (control system) design and application considerations
Eligibility Requirements
- Willingness to travelfor supportingprojectwork, meeting team members, attending industry standard working group meetings and conferences (up to 10%)
Desired Characteristics
Excellentinterpersonalcommunicationskills(e.g.ability to effectivelycommunicate with all levels of GE Vernova andcustomer/plantstaff)
Ph.D.degreeinelectricalengineering,electricpowerengineering, or relatedfield of study – no industry experience is required with this qualification
Experience with steadystateanddynamicanalysisusinglargedatabasesimulationtoolslikePSS/E,PowerFactory,PSLF and use of programming languages like C and C++ is a plus
Experience in creating and modifyingdynamicusermodelsinsimulationtoolslikePSS/E,PowerFactoryandPSLF is a plus
Advancedexperienceinelectromagnetictransientsimulationtoolslike PSCAD/EMTDC,EMTP (e.g.FORTRANprogramming of user-writtenmodelsin PSCAD (“blackbox” models) and in EMTP, use of Python/MATLAB scripting toautomateexecutionandanalysis of multiplesimulations)
Demonstratedapplication of complexmathematicsandengineering to real-world electricpowersystemproblems
IEEE/CIGREpublishedarticlesrelated to powersystemsengineeringtopics,participation in industrystandardsworkinggroups
Experience with Data Center related studies is a plus
Project management experience is a plus
The base pay range for this position is 78,000 usd to 95,000 usd (potential flexibility for the right person). The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate’s experience, geographical location, education, and skill set.
