PAY RANGE

The Target Pay Range for this position is $33.17-$40.53 hourly. The full Pay Range is $25.77-$47.93 hourly. At BECU, compensation decisions are determined using factors such as relevant job-related skills, experience, and education or training. Should an offer for employment be made, we will consider individual qualifications. In addition to your salary, compensation incentives are available for the hired applicant. Incentives are performance based and targets vary by role.

Newly hired employees accrue 6.16 hours of paid time off (PTO) on a per pay period basis based on hours worked (up to a maximum of 160 PTO hours per year) and receive ten paid holidays throughout the calendar year. IMPACT YOU’LL MAKE :

As a Sr. Loan Loss Recovery Specialist, you will play a pivotal role in recovering funds and minimizing losses for BECU. You’ll be the beacon of hope in the toughest cases, employing your expertise and creativity to devise recovery strategies within regulatory frameworks. Your skills will guide and mentor your team, ensuring adherence to best practices while serving as an essential point of contact for escalated calls and complex cases. By partnering with various departments, you’ll help BECU recover financially and enhance member satisfaction through effective resolution strategies.

WHAT YOU'LL DO :

  • Be the Frontline Problem Solver: Collaborate with Loan Loss Recovery Specialists and provide direct support to meet department standards. Negotiate settlements for complex charged-off accounts with consumers, attorneys, and third parties.

  • Innovate Recovery Strategies: Assist in the development and implementation of customized recovery tactics, considering factors such as economic conditions and time of year.

  • Handle Complex Escalations: Manage escalation points for intricate Loan Loss Recovery and Loss Management issues, resolving cases effectively with creativity and a deep understanding of internal policies.

  • Legal Actions and Research: Review and refer accounts for legal action when necessary, ensuring all avenues are explored to minimize losses while complying with regulations and BECU’s policies.

  • Propose and Implement Improvements: Suggest innovative recovery solutions and workflow enhancements based on your experience and successful case studies.

  • Maintain Department Excellence: Prepare and maintain departmental reports, keep procedures and quality checks up-to-date, and ensure thorough documentation.

  • Monitor and React: Oversee workflow and queue volumes, ensuring timely assistance to internal and external clients to accomplish service and quality objectives.

  • Abide by Legal Requirements: Ensure compliance with Washington State and federal laws regarding collections, levies, and liens, while promptly documenting all actions taken.

  • Vendor Management: Coordinate closely with collection agencies, acting as the main point of contact.

  • Support Team Development: Work with management to identify team needs related to training, mentoring, scheduling, and process improvements.

QUALIFICATIONS :

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or equivalent work/educational experience.

  • Minimum seven years of collection experience, with three years as a Loan Loss Recovery Specialist within BECU, or equivalent.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Expertise in real estate foreclosures, bankruptcy, and legal collections.

  • Knowledge of Fair Debt Collection Practices Act and applicable certifications.

  • Proficient in verbal and written English communication.

  • Thorough knowledge of all applicable collection systems.

  • In-depth understanding of state and federal laws related to collections.

  • Ability to prioritize tasks and work effectively under deadlines.
