Job Summary:

Installs,repairsandmaintainselectrical systems and equipment associated with electrical distribution systems (i.e., poles, transformers, etc.), and exterior lighting systems arsenal wide.

Responsibilities

Job Responsibilities:

  • Performs various electrical trade functions such as installation,maintenanceand repair of electrical equipment (i.e., switchboards, circuit breakers, transformers, controllers, motors,polesand associated hardware), associated with electrical distributionsystem.

  • Installsandmaintainsvarious lighting systems on Redstone Arsenal including security lights, traffic lights, and airfieldlighting.

  • Worksfrom blueprints, drawings,layoutsor other specifications to install new systems or equipment and diagnose and repair trouble in existing electrical systems and equipment.

  • Utilizesvarious measuring and testing instruments to work standard computations relating to load requirements of wiring and electrical equipment.

  • Uses insulating tools for working near exposed energized parts of electrical equipment.

  • Adjusts relays and controls equipment to obtain specified voltage, current, time delay and/or other characteristics for appropriate operational functions.

  • Incumbent will at all times wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as determined by position.

  • Interfaces with customer and assures proper accountability of parts and time for each individual task.

  • Drives and operates vehicles associated with line work (i.e., line trucks, bucket trucks, etc.).

  • Complete and prioritize work.

  • Accountable for:

  • Accurate, timely, and cost-effective performance of duties.

  • Working harmoniously with customers and fellow co-workers.

  • Working with the Project Principals to fully coordinate all activities.

  • Having ability to shape, lace and terminate a wide range of conductors in various sizes.

  • Having the ability to properly use various hand and power tools.

  • Having the ability to demonstrate the proper use of digital multi-meters, clamp on ammeters.

  • Ability to perform work in a safe and efficient manner with minimal supervision.

  • Effectively coordinate a number of projects simultaneously.

  • Demonstrated ability to work well under pressure.

  • Effective written and oral communication skills.

  • Demonstrating initiative and problem-solving skills.

  • Contributing to the successful completion of project initiatives.

  • Accountable for assigned tools, materials and equipment.

  • Cleanliness and safety of shop and work areas.

  • Completing all mandated training requirements per government and management directives.

  • Responsible for completing daily work order log documenting inspections, maintenance and repair information, to include work performed, materials used, and hours worked on each assigned work order.

Qualifications

*Minimum Qualifications: *

  • Fouryears experienceas journeyman High Voltage Electrician and must have worked 3 of the last 4 years as a Journeyman High Voltage Electrician.

  • Must possess and maintain a valid class “B” Commercial Driver’s License with acceptable driving record pertinent to the position.

  • Must be dependable, have initiative, and be able to work independently of supervision when required.

  • When required, be willing to work overtime and in inclement weather.

  • Familiarity with facility/infrastructure codes and standards, as applicable.

  • Familiarity with procedures for the safe operation and maintenance of electrical circuits, both overhead and underground.

  • Requires ability and willingness to climb utility poles, operate standard bucket man lifts up to 100ft.

  • Demonstrated medium and high voltage experience (>600V-161KV).

  • Ability to lift weights up to 50lbs.

  • Ability to successfully pass any background checks and/or drug testing required on the contract.

  • Must be available to respond to emergencies during off hours including weekends and holidays.
