Amazon Sr Global Events Marketing Manager, Project Kuiper in Redmond, Washington

Project Kuiper is an initiative to increase global broadband access through a constellation of 3,236 satellites in low Earth orbit (LEO). Its mission is to bring fast, affordable broadband to unserved and underserved communities around the world. Project Kuiper will help close the digital divide by delivering fast, affordable broadband to a wide range of customers, including consumers, businesses, government agencies, and other organizations operating in places without reliable connectivity.

The Kuiper Marketing Team is looking for an events marketing expert for the role of Sr Global Events Marketing Manager. In this global role, the incumbent leader will be responsible for the planning, budgeting, and production of all Kuiper events. Activities range in scale and complexity from executing a strategy for large-scale conference and convention activations to organizing and leading intimate Kuiper Facility visits and tours. The successful candidate will be involved in the production of key event activity, while also leading and managing external resources to coordinate a broad scope of events in support of strategic initiatives. Projects include internal communication events, industry conferences, exhibitions, rocket launches, the Kuiper Facilities Visit Programs, engagement events and seminars.

Reporting to the Head of Global Marketing, the Sr Global Events Marketing Manager will work closely with he, and other members of Kuiper Marketing to ensure all events are carried out in adherence to the yearly event calendar that the leader in this role develops and owns. Collaboration is important as the calendar is based on the needs of the business and strategic priorities. Extensive production experience, detailed budget control, adherence to all internal audit requirements and close collaboration with internal partners is also a priority. The leader is responsible for identifying appropriate third-party vendors and managing these vendors to deliver services in keeping with the high-standards and defined expectations of Project Kuiper.

Key job responsibilities

•Work closely with the Head of Global Marketing on the strategy and execution plan of the event calendar. Review budget status, event activation plans (including recommended key vendors), creative concept integration, collaborations and general event progress updates on a regular basis.

•Plan and manage all events to ensure seamless production and activation of event strategy, with attention to detail, adherence to guidelines and standards, high quality output, creative problem solving and efficient, cost-effectiveness. Handle and oversee all aspects of event production, coordination, logistics and external vendor management.

•Maintain a strong and collaborative partnership with internal Kuiper Teams and other Amazon partners, and work with them to develop activation plans for all events.

•Lead special events confidently via clear communication. Define key expectations and objectives.

•Travel to Scout venues as needed and prepare venue overviews. Travel to events and oversee event while on site. Provide support on all production elements, including management of problematic situations to exemplify grace under pressure.

•Maintain a proactive and progressive network of vendors to ensure extensive knowledge of current event resources including new venues, production agencies, high-quality fabrication resources, new technology innovations, performance talent, etc.

•Review final vendor contracts (i.e., caterers, lighting, sound, décor, etc.), prior to submitting to Legal, and adhere to all event best practices (competitive bidding, cost control, insurance, security, etc.).

•Collaborate with the Brand & Creative Team on event assets and timelines.

•Develop post-event recapping including Global Reports and Recap Videos for internal communication.

•The incumbent must also be able to independently plan, produce and execute key, large scale events from start to finish as required

Export Control Requirement: Due to applicable export control laws and regulations, candidates must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (i.e., current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

Basic Qualifications

  • 6+ years of professional non-internship marketing experience

  • 4+ years of developing and managing acquisition marketing or channel programs experience

  • Experience using data and metrics to drive improvements

  • Experience with Excel or Tableau (data manipulation, macros, charts and pivot tables)

  • Experience building, executing and scaling cross-functional marketing programs

  • Experience developing and executing campaigns across a multitude of timezones and languages

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience driving direction and alignment with large cross-functional teams and agency partners

  • Experience designing and executing joint marketing plans with strategic alliance partners with global footprint

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $106,400/year in our lowest geographic market up to $185,000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
