Project Kuiper is an initiative to increase global broadband access through a constellation of 3,236 satellites in low Earth orbit (LEO). Its mission is to bring fast, affordable broadband to unserved and underserved communities around the world. Project Kuiper will help close the digital divide by delivering fast, affordable broadband to a wide range of customers, including consumers, businesses, government agencies, and other organizations operating in places without reliable connectivity.

Have you wanted an opportunity to develop the software applications and services for an advanced global connectivity service? The Kuiper Customer Engagement Systems team owns all the software and services to manage a customer's life cycle. Our team owns developing the architecture, solutions & roadmap for managing the customer lifecycle for connectivity services; for example identity and account management, subscriber management services, user provisioning, billing and payments, customer and technical support tools, offer management tools, and customer metrics and analytics. As the Software Development Manager you will lead a team of engineers to solve these problems.

Export Control Requirement

Key job responsibilities

-Aid in the design and delivery of Connectivity Components, Applications and Services.

-Work with our peer teams and stakeholders to design suitable software systems and interfaces to fulfill the customer needs.

-Develop a strategic plan for the growth of the team, both from a software services and organization perspective.

-Hire & Develop a diverse team of software engineers.

-Collaborate with your fellow team members to form a strong foundation for a software organization in Project Kuiper.

-Help on-board and mentor new team members.

A day in the life

You will work with Product Management and Business Stakeholders on defining the roadmap for Kuiper's customer lifecycle. You will own solving this for multiple customer segments and building software that is flexible for many different customers and countries.

About the team

The Kuiper Customer Engagement Systems team owns all the software and services to manage a customer's life cycle.

We are open to hiring candidates to work out of one of the following locations:

Redmond, WA, USA

Basic Qualifications

  • 3+ years of engineering team management experience

  • 7+ years of working directly within engineering teams experience

  • 3+ years of designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience

  • 8+ years of leading the definition and development of multi tier web services experience

  • Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operations

  • Experience partnering with product or program management teams

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior leadership to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy

  • Experience in recruiting, hiring, mentoring/coaching and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills, and make them more effective, product software engineers

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $148,000/year in our lowest geographic market up to $287,700/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
