Our team is looking for a Principal Strategy Manager who will bring visionary leadership, innovative problem-solving, and strategic foresight to shape the future of our organization. This role is crucial in establishing a foundation that brings Microsoft's mission to life by driving continued global growth through the direct development of cross-functional strategies and programs that are adopted across the organization.

The individual in this role leverages market intelligence—comprising market, customer, and insights—along with internal and external analysis to inform strategic direction, analyze trends, and address pertinent business challenges. They enable global integrated strategy and planning, driving consistent focus across CO+I strategies by conducting benchmark studies and contributing to long-term business plan development.

As a Principal Strategy Manager , you will play a vital role in evaluating key investments, prioritizing initiatives, conducting thorough risk assessments, and defining project metrics. You will demonstrate the ability to author strategy papers that influence, inform, and align with strategic initiatives. You will also effectively communicate intricate concepts, industry insights, and strategic plans to various stakeholders, including executives and decision-makers, to shape understanding, garner support, and drive alignment toward organizational goals and objectives.

Within CO+I , you will guide our extended leadership team through a multi-year strategic roadmap, aligning short, mid, and long-term strategies. The ideal candidate will lead an efficient strategic planning process and participate in deployment planning to ensure alignment with the organization's mission and vision. You will demonstrate a history of delivering impactful results through a balanced approach of strategic thinking and hands-on execution and will spearhead the development and maintenance of an 'Always-on' Strategy and Planning Capability, driving high-impact integrated strategic initiatives efficiently.

Responsibilities

  • Enable and manage global strategic direction by utilizing market intelligence, including market, customer, and insights, along with internal and external analysis to align with trend assessments and plan for relevant and future business challenges.

  • Conduct scenario planning for market dynamics, gather external insights, and establish strategic positioning through strategic partnerships and cross-functional collaboration.

  • Lead the creation of strategy papers through collaboration with SMEs on a wide range of topics.

  • Possess solid written and verbal communication skills, demonstrating program management proficiency, and the ability to present to executive-level personnel.

Qualifications

  • Required/Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Liberal Arts, Computer Science, or related field AND 6+ years marketing, strategy, business planning, consulting, banking, finance, economics, and/or partner organization experience

  • OR Master's Degree in Business Administration or related field AND 4+ years marketing, strategy, business planning, consulting, banking, finance, economics, and/or partner organization experience

  • OR equivalent experience.

Other Requirements:

  • Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to, the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Additional or Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Liberal Arts, Computer Science, or related field AND 12+ years marketing, strategy, business planning, consulting, banking, finance, economics, and/or partner organization experience

  • OR Master's Degree in Business Administration or related field AND 8+ years marketing, strategy, business planning, consulting, banking, finance, economics, and/or partner organization experience

  • OR equivalent experience.

  • 4+ years experience in Strategy, Management Consulting, and/or Finance.

Business Strategy IC5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $129,200 - $248,800 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $162,000 - $268,900 per year.
