The Digital Transformation Solutions group at Microsoft is at the forefront of designing, delivering, and supporting advanced AI and service solutions for the entire Microsoft devices portfolio - including Xbox, HoloLens, Surface and foldable product lines.  This team is hiring a Principal Architect to create world-class software that interacts with our world-class Supply chain.

As a Principal Architect , you will be a key technical contributor on a fast paced and high energy team. Responsibilities

  • Drive technical excellence and innovation within a dynamic, agile environment.

  • Communicate effectively with various stakeholders, from business leaders to developers.

  • Provide architectural guidance and reviews on strategic software implementations.

  • Collaborate with Product Managers to align customer requirements with product features.

  • Design architectures that ensure security, scalability, and manageability of systems.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, or related technical discipline AND 6+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python

  • OR equivalent experience.

  • 5+ years of experience designing and developing large scale services with focus in an environment with deployments in multiple regions.

  • Experience designing and implementing scalable projects.

  • Experience comprehending and communicating systems architecture.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 10+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python

  • OR Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 8+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python

  • OR equivalent experience.

  • 7+ years of experience leading software development with modern software engineering practices of unit testing, continuous integration and deployment.

  • Experience working with the following technologies: cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, Google Cloud), web service frameworks (ASP.NET Web API, OData, Swagger), distributed computing, streaming technologies (Kafka, Spark) and containerized applications (Kubernetes, Docker, or similar).

  • Experience building Machine Learning & Artificial Intelligence products, services or features. 

Software Engineering IC5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $137,600 - $267,000 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $180,400 - $294,000 per year.
