The Team:

Our team plays a key role in providing data and analytics for the Microsoft Security customer solution area and covers areas inclusive of Copilot for Security, Cyber Threat Detection and Response, Advanced Threat Detection (threat hunting, intelligence, incident response), Vulnerability Detection and Response, Remediation, Data protection and governance and Device, Application management.

The Role:

Data Scientist II- IDEAs (Insights Data Engineering and Analytics) Group

As a Data Scientist II , you will be bringing relevant data into a central systems to create the critical business metrics and perform opportunity analysis and hypothesis generation to drive product improvement and growth. This opportunity will allow you to gain expertise in designing and managing core OKRs and executive rhythms of business. As well as building out generative business intelligence to support descriptive, predictive analytics, forecasting, causal inference models.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct data analyses deliver insights and learnings on marketing initiatives / programs for Security solutions.

  • Define, generate, and monitor KPI metrics for different Securitysolutions.

  • Automate reporting and provide exploration capability for reporting users.

  • Partner with multiple Marketing and Product teams to explore data, design learning plan, and conduct analyses.

  • Present insights and learnings to key stakeholders / executives, drive actions and impact.

  • Provide thought leadership on Security marketing based on the learnings from analyses.

  • Inform business strategy through deep insights, cross team collaboration (with data engineering and data science) and effective storytelling.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Doctorate in Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Econometrics, Economics, Operations Research, Computer Science, or related field

  • OR Master's Degree in Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Econometrics, Economics, Operations Research, Computer Science, or related field AND 1+ year(s) data-science experience (e.g., managing structured and unstructured data, applying statistical techniques and reporting results)

  • OR Bachelor's Degree in Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Econometrics, Economics, Operations Research, Computer Science, or related field AND 2+ years data-science experience (e.g., managing structured and unstructured data, applying statistical techniques and reporting results)

  • OR equivalent experience.

  • 1+ year(s) customer-facing, project-delivery experience, professional services, and/or consulting experience.

  • 2+ years of experience in analyzing large volumes of data, extracting insights processing large data sets using SQL or SQL-like scripting language.

Other Requirements:

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:

  • Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Doctorate in Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Econometrics, Economics, Operations Research, Computer Science, or related field AND 1+ year(s) data-science experience (e.g., managing structured and unstructured data, applying statistical techniques and reporting results)

  • OR Master's Degree in Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Econometrics, Economics, Operations Research, Computer Science, or related field AND 3+ years data-science experience (e.g., managing structured and unstructured data, applying statistical techniques and reporting results)

  • Bachelor's Degree in Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Econometrics, Economics, Operations Research, Computer Science, or related field AND 5+ years data-science experience (e.g., managing structured and unstructured data, applying statistical techniques and reporting results)

  • OR equivalent experience.

  • 2+ years of experience in analyzing large volumes of data, extracting insights processing large data sets using SQL or SQL-like scripting language.

  • 2+ years of experience in processing and building visualizations using reporting tool as Power BI.

  • Demonstrated ability to synthesize complex issues/scenarios into easy-to-understand concepts through both written and oral communication.

  • Attention to detail with self-discipline and a drive for results.

  • Commitment to continuous learning and professional development, staying updated with the latest trends and advancements in data science and related fields.

  • Demonstrated ability to work in ambiguous situations and across organizational boundaries.

Data Science IC3 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $98,300 - $193,200 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $127,200 - $208,800 per year.
