NANA Regional Corporation Project Manager (Secondment) – Red Dog Mine, AK – Rotational in Red Dog Mine, Alaska
Job Description
The field project manager is responsible for identifying, defining, planning and executing the approved
scope of work for the Red Dog Projects Group. The role requires specific field experience in mining
operations, construction trades; including steel building design, electrical, mechanical, piping and control
systems.
Reporting to the construction manager, the field project manager will serve as a supporting resource for
project construction activities during engineering, construction and commissioning functions. This role will
support the project manager by coordinating planning and execution activities for various planned projects.
Responsibilities
Constantly maintain, implement and demonstrate Teck’s commitment to health, safety,environmental and community as a core value.
Support the implementation of the Teck Projects Development Framework in conjunction withRed Dog Operations.
Support and coordinate the phased project development process or Red Dog Mine projects.
Review and monitor construction execution plans for effective management of projects performedby external service providers.
Develop construction scopes of work of increasing complexity as requested by Plant and otherdepartment managers.
Develop a positive working relationship, liaise and work closely with the client’s Operationalstakeholders, client functional teams, project team and operational readiness team to ensure thatthe PMP deliverables are met.
Support ensuring that project decisions are defined and coordinated with operations andconstruction contractors.
Transfer learning from project implementation into the improvement of company policies andprocedures.
Researches materials and executes assignments under minimal supervision and direction.
Attends, prepares and issues minutes of meetings.
Perform project related document control for all phases of the projects.
This position has supervisory responsibilities.
Other duties that are pertinent to the department or unit’s success also may be assigned.
Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
Minimum 5 years of experience in construction with owners or contractors side of projects.
Project experience coordinating with mine, mill and port operations groups would be consideredhighly valuable, including fuel tanks, conveyors and bulk material handling.
Recognized as a leader in the fields of site brownfield project management & operationalreadiness,
Proven ability to lead an initiative / project from an idea through scoping, approval and thenexecution,
Self-motivated, results driven, enthusiastic, engaging individual with a desire help clients improvetheir operations,
Demonstrated ability to coach and mentor staff’s development in the field of project management& operations readiness, commissioning startup and ramp up of heavy industrial plants andprocesses,
Conversant with all leading project management & operations readiness philosophies,
Effective communicator at all levels of the organization,
Strong client focus,
Able to work as project leader, individual or as a team member,
Strong safety focus,
Lead small teams and multiple projects / initiatives in a exploration and mining operations,
Ability to work onsite unsupervised,

Proven experience in an operational environment,
Minimum five years’ experience in a similar role,
Cross functional exposure and strong experience in a range of client organization roles andresponsibilities (i.e. operations, maintenance, finance, supply, mining, human resources etc.) theirinterfaces and interdependencies,
Project management experience,

Driver's License and an acceptable driving record for the past three (3) years to be eligible under company vehicle insurance policy.
Preferred
Previous experience in brownfield mine project management and integration / project start up,
Experience in Alaska, or northern latitude with mines and exploration methodology in permafrostenvironments,
Experience of facilities/process engineering and commissioning methods sufficient to enableinput from an operations perspective and informed decision making to ensure quality control ofcontractor technical work and realization of opportunities for technical and business improvement,
Knowledge of industry standards,
Self-starters who can undertake their responsibilities with minimal supervision,
Coordination, organization and planning of community / industrial relations awareness,
Intermediate use of MS suite and a planning tool such as MS Project,
MSHA qualified for metal and non-metal operations.
