Job Purpose

Welcome to EnerSys! We are looking for enthusiastic, passionate members to join our growing team supporting the development of Lithium Ion and advanced power solutions. With the advancement of complex control and safety systems required to manage our products, embedded software for our products is key. With that motivation, the Embedded Software Engineer will take ownership and responsibility of software requirements analysis, developing code and verification at test bench level to meet/exceed software and safety standards. The scope of this role is focused on the embedded software development aspects but provides opportunities in both new embedded software platform products, and Hardware in Loop testing as well. This role is within the software product development organization but will act as a bridge to our Systems Engineering and product validation group.

Our New Engineer Will Need

Minimum of a Bachelor's in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or similar. Experience with developing software for embedded product's including standard software development life cycle process and tool development/debugging tool chain. History of driving innovative approaches and systems to increase efficiency and quality of software development including software requirements analysis, architecture, implementation, unit/functional testing with embedded tool chain. Proficiency in both bug tracking and source control tools and their administration (SVN, Git) Experience with Embedded C language Experience with model-based development - MATLAB/Simulink Having low/driver level development experience with STMicro or any 32-bit micro is plus and basic understanding of ARM processor and operating system. Experience in managing multiple projects and stakeholder priorities to achieve organizational goals. Closely collaborate with engineers and developers to increase overall organizational efficiency.

What to Expect

After 30 days in your role as Embedded Software Engineer, you will have successfully met the development team, and completed introductory training. This will provide the opportunity to understand the organizational structure and connections between cross functions that are required for product development (including our overall systems and software implementation). This time will also allow you to become familiar with the existing product requirements at system and software level and the core of its software architecture. After 3 months you will have become aware of the team capabilities and provide recommendations and proposals on new tools and processes to aid with software product development and testing. Additionally, a software improvement plan for existing software to meet quality and safety standards and drive plan for new features to meet or exceed market demands. After 6 months you will have a clear view of the entire scope of the software development group and key stakeholders to align with cross functionally. You will have prioritized and negotiated implementation of the new embedded software features and processes that you have recommended. Additionally, you will also provide recommendations on new embedded platforms that will further increase the capabilities of the design group. As Embedded Software Engineer, you will enable the successf l development of new and exciting energy storage systems. You will have the opportunity to work with a high performing team and drive new optimal products and processes.
