Job Requirements:

To provide clear leadership to the Finance Department whilst contributing significantly to the achievement of the Company’s aims and objectives. As part of the Company’s Senior Management Team, the postholder will have overall responsibility for all financial matters, including responsibility for developing the Company’s financial strategy, and ensuring that internal and external financial targets and objectives are met. The post holder will also be a primary contact for corporate finance / other corporate departments.

Responsibilities:

  • To take overall responsibility for the financial management of the Company.

  • Line manager to the Rawtenstall Accounting Team employees providing direction, support, and leadership to the 2-employee team and line manager to the Stoke Accounting Team of 1.

  • To provide direction and leadership for the Finance Department, including the setting, monitoring, and review of individual aims and objectives.

  • Take ownership of key financial controls (SOX) ensuring that they are rigorously adhered to and that the company is fully compliant with internal audit & SOX requirements.

  • To liaise with the Corporate Finance Department on financial matters

Financial Management

  • To develop and maintain appropriate financial information systems across the Company to ensure adequate controls are in place

  • To ensure that departmental managers have timely and accurate information to manage delegated budgets, providing advice and assistance as required.

  • To prepare and present monthly management accounts for both companies on a timely basis and in accordance with Corporate reporting deadlines.

  • To develop and maintain product costing systems

  • To liaise with auditors insurers and other external agencies as required

  • To maintain and control the Company’s bank accounts liaising with the Company’s bankers and Corporate Head Office as required.

  • To monitor outstanding debtors and control debt collection procedures.

  • To ensure accurate and timely payment of employees and creditors.

  • To ensure that financial policies, systems and procedures are in place and consistently applied across both companies

  • To provide information to the Corporate Finance department as required

  • To effectively manage the budget of the Finance Department

  • Manage all accounting operations including, A/R, A/P, GL, Cost Accounting, Inventory Accounting, and Revenue Recognition.

  • Prepare and publish timely monthly, quarterly & annual financial statements including managing the month-end and year-end close processes.

  • To prepare and present monthly management accounts for both companies on a timely basis and in accordance with Corporate reporting deadlines.

  • Manage all regulatory reporting including managing the external auditing process for both UK sites along with the annual corporation tax return process.

  • Ensure that effective internal controls are in place and ensure compliance with USGAAP and UKGAAP applicable regulatory laws and rules for financial and tax reporting.

  • Prepare, examine, or analyze accounting records, financial statements, or other financial reports to assess accuracy, completeness, and conformance to reporting and procedural standards.

  • Monitor and account for the company’s fixed assets, additions, disposals, and depreciation.

  • Monitoring and evaluating financial information systems and suggesting/implementing improvements.

  • To develop and maintain product costing systems.

  • Support hard close process including compiling all reconciliations and reviewing & sign off with CHQ personnel.

  • Coordinate and direct the preparation of the budget and financial forecasts and report variances to budget/forecast to help the business identify ways to improve/deliver its financial goals for both UK sites.

Communication & Relationships

  • To provide leadership for employees within the Finance and IT Departments

  • To act as line manager to employees within the Finance and IT Departments.

  • To mentor and develop employees within the Finance and IT Departments.

  • Interpreting and communicating financial data to non-financial managers.

  • Provide guidance, support, and help develop the accounting processes and systems including attending meetings at both sites as and when required and providing ongoing accounting support to both sites including carrying out key monthly tasks.

  • To continually evaluate the progress of employees and provide regular constructive feedback on their performance

  • To develop and review both short and long-term financial strategies to achieve the aims and objectives of the Company

  • To work with the Senior Management Team to develop, implement and review policies and strategies for service improvement across the Company

  • To set realistic but challenging targets for managers and employees to achieve

  • To think strategically, anticipate situations and respond positively to setbacks, developing alternative action.

  • Respond and act upon requests/actions from all Corporate functions

Qualifications/ Experience:

  • Qualified Accountant (ACA) / ACCA / CIMA

  • Up-to-date knowledge of developments in accountancy and finance generally

  • Experience of working within a similar structure of companies

  • Experience of participation and consistent personal achievement as a senior manager operating at or near the Director level in a financial environment

  • Experience of creating and delivering financial strategies

  • Ability to translate strategic direction into achievable objectives and plans

  • Excellent communication skills at all levels

  • Excellent level of computer literacy
