Red Hat Senior Principal Software Engineer in Raleigh, North Carolina

The Hybrid Cloud Console (HCC) engineering organization is seeking an exceptional Senior Principal Software Engineer to join our team. This is an extraordinary opportunity to contribute to a hybrid cloud management platform that enables organizations to manage and govern resources across a diverse and distributed landscape, including on-premises, multi-cloud and edge environments. You will have the opportunity to work across Red Hat’s product portfolio to bring to life the Management Fabric, which is a platform focused on user identity, access management, analytics and the identity of resources under management (aka inventory). You'll have the freedom to rapidly design, secure, build, test, and release groundbreaking hybrid cloud management components.

What you will do

  • Act as a thought leader across hybrid cloud management technologies and solutions, steering collaboration on architecture and dependencies with other teams while demonstrating an understanding of the consequences of technology choices

  • Have a strong understanding of the business aspects to help shape broad product direction with other teams, not just engineering, but also cross-product/functional initiatives

  • Partner closely with the BU to connect product roadmap to the overall company strategy to help anchor contributors to the company mission

  • Own and lead the architecture and design of the Hybrid Cloud Console and the Management Fabric and provide input that elevates the platform and user experience

  • Drive consistent architecture and deployment strategies across Commercial and Government (e.g., FedRAMP) environments

  • Evaluate the benefits and risks of technical solutions to customer needs and communicate those evaluations to interested stakeholders

  • Help support customers to understand product portfolio and longer term technical vision as well as enabling features to be prioritized into the product backlog

  • Create technical and architectural documentation to explain and share platform design decisions and policies

  • Ensure our components are resilient, secure and scalable'

What you will bring

  • Solid innovation skills and a passion for technology

  • Strong software architecture background, specifically with SaaS

  • Experience in Kubernetes architecture and operators/controllers

  • Solid understanding of security architecture and familiarity with security compliance frameworks

  • Experience building and deploying container-based applications

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Experience troubleshooting complex issues in distributed systems

  • Experience with development for public cloud services (AWS, GCE, Azure)

  • Experience with DevOps

  • Experience with Linux, especially RHEL

  • Passionate about making complicated things simple

The salary range for this position is $157,750.00 - $260,200.00. Actual offer will be based on your qualifications.

Pay Transparency

Red Hat determines compensation based on several factors including but not limited to job location, experience, applicable skills and training, external market value, and internal pay equity. Annual salary is one component of Red Hat’s compensation package. This position may also be eligible for bonus, commission, and/or equity. For positions with Remote-US locations, the actual salary range for the position may differ based on location but will be commensurate with job duties and relevant work experience.
