Job Summary:

The Medical Physicist in Radiation Oncology is responsible for ensuring the safe and accurate delivery of radiation therapy to patients. This role involves collaborating with radiation oncologists, dosimetrists, and radiation therapists to design, implement, and monitor treatment plans. The Medical Physicist will also be involved in the development and maintenance of quality assurance programs and the calibration of radiation therapy equipment.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Treatment Planning: Collaborate with the oncology team to design and optimize radiation treatment plans. Perform dose calculations and verify the accuracy of treatment plans.

  2. Quality Assurance: Develop and implement quality assurance protocols for radiation therapy equipment. Conduct regular equipment calibration and maintenance. Perform routine safety checks and ensure compliance with regulatory standards.

  3. Patient Safety: Ensure the accurate delivery of radiation doses to patients. Monitor and evaluate patient treatment plans for safety and efficacy.

  4. Research and Development: Participate in clinical research and development projects. Stay updated with advancements in radiation oncology and medical physics.

  5. Education and Training: Provide training and guidance to medical staff, including radiation therapists and dosimetrists. Educate patients and their families about radiation therapy procedures.

Qualifications:

· Education: Master's degree in Medical Physics, Physics or related field.

· Licensure/Certification Requirements: Board eligible by the American Board of Radiology.

· Professional Experience Requirements: Two to three (2-3) years of clinical experience preferred. Experience with advanced radiation therapy techniques (e.g., IMRT, VMAT, SRS, SBRT).

· Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Proficiency in treatment planning software and dosimetry equipment. Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team.
