ManpowerGroup IT Project Financial Analyst in Raleigh, North Carolina

Title: Project Financial Analyst – IT Spend

Type: Contract (client has right to hire), 12-18 months

Location: Raleigh, NC – Onsite 3 days a week to begin with

$30-$40/hour for junior talent

Due to a busy season looming, Mary Anne is open to more junior talent (potentially even a fresh college grad with finance degree)

Why open?

Tracking project spend is new to SECU. While they have talent aligned here to support the VP, that talent lacks the project experience. In preparation for new processes and the new fiscal year, SECU is looking to hire a project financial analyst with project financial experience

Must have:

  • Project financial tracking/forecasting experience (preferably IT project experience)

  • Ability to work with executive leadership

  • Ability to work independently once fully ramped up

  • Good communication skills

Nice to Have:

  • Banking/FS experience

  • FP&A Experience

  • Experience in regulated environments (if no FS experience)

Day to Day of this role:

  • Working with project owners on proposal to build business cases

  • Project forecasting

  • Analysis: ROI, renewals, adhoc


Job Summary:

This Project Financial Analyst role is responsible for providing project financial modeling and tracking support to SECU.

Objectives for the IT Project Modeling & Portfolio Financials team are generally categorized into:

  • Business Case Creation – Collaborate with project owners/project managers to create business cases and identify financial impact to SECU

  • Project Financial Reporting – Perform monthly financial variance analysis by project and by portfolio

  • EPMO Support – Support and train project managers in capturing project actuals and ensure monthly project forecast is accurate and stays within budget

  • Project Financial Change Requests – Support and train project managers to prepare financial related change request for approvals

  • Business Support – Support Senior Finance Leadership and Department Executives with internal presentations and business cases including ad-hoc business projects and requests

Duties & Responsibilities:

The Financial Analyst supports the IT Finance department in business case creation, project forecasting, budgeting, and reporting at granular level.

Partner with leadership team, project owners, project managers and expense management team in business case creation from project Intake, financial data gathering, analysis, business case approval through project implementation.

Perform project financial modeling including NPV, IRR, Payback Period analysis.

Produce monthly project financial reporting with transparent variance analysis including prior month, budget and forecast variances.

Partner with project owners and project managers in understanding over/underspend and assist in obtaining additional approval as necessary.

Assist in preparation of ad hoc analysis to support business decision and direction.

Develop value added financial reporting for managing business performance including key metrics.

Collaborate and provide training to project managers on project financial forecasting in Workday.

Maintain current knowledge of organizational policies and procedures, current accounting standards, state and federal regulations, GAAP, and ensure compliance with all policies.

Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Math/Statistics or equivalent education and related training.

5 years of Accounting / Finance Experience.

Familiar with NPV, IRR, Payback Period, ROI analysis

Familiar with Cash and P&L Impact

Experience working with and presenting to leadership.

Must possess strong judgement, professional maturity and personal integrity.

Must possess strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills - ability to synthesize financial information into concise, insightful and actionable recommendations comfortable interacting with and presenting to all levels of management. Confidence to challenge the status quo and drive change

Excellent quantitative and analytical problem-solving skills.

Exceptional attention to detail related to providing accurate and timely data

Expertise in creating (PowerPoint) and delivering presentations to groups and ability to manage concurrent projects

Ability to comprehend and clearly communicate complex concepts in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and provide strong documentation

High degree of patience for working through multiple iterations of work, dealing with the demands of senior management and varying project subject matter

Proficiency in computer applications such as Microsoft Office Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook, and other basic software products.

Experience in project modeling from the ground up, project financial management and analysis

Preferred Qualifications:

Familiarity with Jira and Workday Financial Management (OfficeConnect & Adaptive)
