CITY OF RALEIGH Event Assistants- Gipson Play Plaza [Part-time] in Raleigh, North Carolina
Be a part of history as one of the first Event Assistants at Gipson Play Plaza, the City of Raleighs crown jewel park. The Event Assistants is responsible for providing semi-skilled work while patrolling and monitoring assigned park areas. Work may include responding to guest concerns, providing directions for guests, assisting with event execution, and regulating parking flow. Individuals in this role must adhere to the Citys standards and procedures to deliver a consistent guest experience. Event Assistants are highly motivated individuals that utilize their attention to detail to elevate park experiences. They are actively engaged with park guests, team members, and the park as a whole. Becoming a part of the Park Operations team at Gipson Play Plaza will give you the opportunity to provide lifelong memories for generations of families at the park.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Guest Engagement: Interact with visitors to build relationships and provide park and city information.
- Shuttle Operation: Drive the Dix Park shuttle (city vehicle) to transport guests.
- Parking Assistance: Assist guests with parking, enforce parking regulations, and manage parking flow.
- Safety and Maintenance: Identify and report unsafe conditions or accidents; enforce park rules, policies, and procedures.
- Communication: Address visitor questions and concerns; communicate effectively using smartphones and radios.
- Emergency Response: Assist in activating emergency action plans and take ownership during emergency situations.
- Signage Management: Update and manage non-digital park signage.
- Tours and Events: Provide park tours and assist with event execution.
- Additional Duties: Attend staff meetings and perform other tasks as required.
Typical Qualifications
Required:
- At least 18 years old; high school diploma or equivalent.
- Ability to provide world class service to guests, peers, and leadership.
- Capable of lifting up to 50 lbs individually and up to 100 lbs with assistance; able to stand and walk for extended periods.
- Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including holidays, weekends, and varied shifts to meet the needs of a 365-day operation.
- Ability to follow department and city policies, procedures, and safety guidelines.
- Skilled in operating and maneuvering equipment in tight spaces.
- Ability to shovel snow and ice from designated areas when required.
- Valid North Carolina Class C driver's license with a satisfactory driving record, or ability to obtain within 60 days of hire.
Preferred:
- Bilingual abilities.
- Previous experience with high-volume parking operations or in a customer service setting.
