Radford University Senior Assistant Director, Graduate Admissions in Radford, Virginia

Job Summary:

The Assistant Director of Graduate Admissions is a dynamic leadership role with excellent growth potential in higher education administration. This position serves as the primary point of contact for admissions counseling, providing guidance and support to prospective students throughout the application process. When needed, the Assistant Director will also assist in the review of transcripts, test scores, letters of recommendation, and other application materials for consideration. Additionally, the Assistant Director acts as a key liaison with academic units, facilitating communication and collaboration on recruitment and enrollment strategies. This role also plays a crucial role in managing the graduate admissions process, developing strategic recruitment initiatives, and enhancing prospective student engagement through marketing and data-driven strategies. A critical aspect of this role involves utilizing current technologies to manage application workflows, ensuring all materials are received and analyzed efficiently. This includes developing software queries and reports to provide management with data-driven insights for decision-making. Furthermore, the Assistant Director will assist with on and off-site admissions events, such as open houses, information sessions, and recruitment fairs. The Assistant Director ensures a seamless application and enrollment experience while contributing to the institution’s overall enrollment success.

Required Qualifications:

  • Prior experience in admissions, recruitment, or a related higher education field.

  • Superior communication, organizational, and interpersonal abilities.

  • Expertise in CRM systems and application management software.

  • Ability to contribute effectively as a member of a collaborative team.

  • Demonstrated proficiency in data analysis and reporting.

  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, working both independently and as part of a team. Flexibility to work occasional evenings, weekends, and to travel overnight as needed.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Expertise in graduate education trends and best practices.

  • Proven ability to work effectively with graduate students.

  • Experience providing support to first-generation college students.

  • Proficiency with SLATE or comparable CRM and admissions software platforms.

  • Experience utilizing Ellucian Banner student information systems.

  • In-depth familiarity with the institution’s academic program portfolio.

  • Proven ability to promote inclusivity and engage effectively with diverse student populations.

  • Proficiency in strategic marketing, digital engagement, and student outreach strategies.
