Position Details:
Summary of Duties:
Under general supervision, the SNAP-Ed Program Coordinator oversees the coordination, implementation, and evaluation of the Cowlitz and Lewis County SNAP-Ed programs. The SNAP-Ed Cowlitz-Lewis County Program Coordinator is responsible for assisting with the development and implementation of a culturally sensitive nutrition education program that combines direct education with policy, system and environmental (PSE) change initiatives relating to healthy eating and active living among the limited-resource population in Cowlitz and Lewis County. The SNAP-Ed Program Coordinator works closely with the SNAP-Ed state staff, other Washington State University (WSU) Extension staff and faculty, the SNAP-Ed Implementing Agency, and community partners to ensure activities meet the requirements of the Food and Nutrition Services (FNS) Guidance for SNAP-Ed. This is a temporary position expected to end on September 30, 2025. Renewal is dependent on satisfactory performance and annual background check, the need for Extension to complete the project and/or if additional funding is secured to extend employment.
Required Qualifications:
• A Bachelor's degree in a relevant extension program discipline and two (2) years of related program experience. Any combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis.
• Must have, or be able to obtain by time of hire, a valid driver's license and meet requirements in accordance with https://policies.wsu.edu/prf/index/manuals/safety-policies-procedures-manual/sppm-7-10/#four_3 and departmental driving standards.
• Ability to travel within targeted counties.
• While using a private or WSU-owned vehicle for official business, must have current automobile liability insurance (meeting the requirements described in https://app.leg.wa.gov/rcw/default.aspx?cite=46.30.020and https://app.leg.wa.gov/rcw/default.aspx?cite=46.29.090).
• Ability to work a flexible, yet structured schedule with occasional night and weekend shifts to meet the needs of program partners and grant requirements.
• Demonstrated knowledge of Microsoft Office Excel.
• Employment is contingent upon passing a background screening.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Demonstrated ability to communicate and interact effectively, with persons of varying levels of responsibility and experience, both orally and in writing.
• Knowledge of WSU Business Policies and Procedures in the areas of personnel, finance, and administration.
• Experience in higher education, local or state agency, or equivalent.
